Lyle Dylandy
Twin brother of Neil Dylandy who becomes the second Lockon Stratos and pilots the Cherudim Gundam for Celestial Being.
Lyle Dylandy (ライル・ダイランディ, Rairu Dairandi) is the twin brother of Neil Dylandy (the original Lockon Stratos) in Mobile Suit Gundam 00. After Neil’s death during Operation Fallen Angels, Lyle was recruited by Celestial Being as his successor and took the codename Lockon Stratos, piloting the GN-006 Cherudim Gundam in the second season and later the GN-010 Gundam Zabanya in the film Awakening of the Trailblazer.
Biography
Early life
Lyle was born in AD 2283 in Ireland alongside his twin brother Neil and later had a younger sister, Amy. He was not present when the terrorist attack that killed his parents and sister occurred; his emotional response was one of emptiness rather than the hatred that drove Neil into Celestial Being. As the younger twin, Lyle had often been compared unfavourably to Neil and developed an inferiority complex, eventually moving away during junior high school.
Katharon and recruitment
Before joining Celestial Being, Lyle was a member of Katharon, the anti–A-LAWS resistance group, where he worked as an intelligence gatherer. After Neil’s death in AD 2308, Celestial Being recruited Lyle to replace his brother as a Gundam Meister. Lyle accepted the role and the codename Lockon Stratos to honour Neil’s memory.
Second season
As the second Lockon Stratos, Lyle piloted the GN-006 Cherudim Gundam, the successor to the GN-002 Gundam Dynames. Unlike Neil, who specialised in long-range sniping, Lyle favoured multiple guns and ranged support. He formed a romantic relationship with Anew Returner, a Ptolemaios crew member who was later revealed to be an Innovade spy for Ribbons Almark. When Anew was exposed, she attempted to kill Lyle; he was forced to kill her in self-defence, an event that deeply affected him.
Lyle continued to fight alongside Celestial Being against the A-LAWS and the Innovators, struggling to step out of his brother’s shadow whilst proving himself as a capable and adaptable pilot.
Film
In Mobile Suit Gundam 00: Awakening of the Trailblazer, Lyle pilots the GN-010 Gundam Zabanya, participating in humanity’s first contact with the ELS and the final battle to protect Earth.
Personality and traits
Lyle is more reserved and less openly cheerful than Neil. He carries the weight of replacing his brother and initially finds it difficult to live up to the name Lockon Stratos. Over time he grows into the role and is often considered the more adaptable pilot of the two. His relationship with Anew and her betrayal left him with lasting emotional scars.

Relationships
Neil Dylandy (Lockon Stratos)
Lyle admired his brother but also resented being compared to him. Taking the name Lockon Stratos was both an honour and a burden; he eventually makes the identity his own.
Anew Returner
Lyle fell in love with Anew during the second season. Her true nature as an Innovade and her death at his hands traumatised him but also reinforced his commitment to Celestial Being’s mission.
Behind the scenes
Lyle Dylandy was introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Second Season as the replacement for the deceased Neil Dylandy, allowing the “Lockon Stratos” codename and sniper role to continue whilst exploring a different personality and combat style.
