Lockon Stratos (ロックオン・ストラトス, Rokkon Sutoratosu), real name Neil Dylandy, is a Gundam Meister for Celestial Being who pilots the GN-002 Gundam Dynames in Mobile Suit Gundam 00. A skilled sniper, Lockon joined Celestial Being to avenge his family, who were killed in a terrorist attack. He is known for his laid-back personality and his exceptional marksmanship skills.

Biography

Early life

Lockon Stratos was born as Neil Dylandy in AD 2283 in Ireland. He had a twin brother, Lyle Dylandy, and a younger sister, Amy Dylandy. When Lockon was 13, his family was killed in a terrorist attack during a vacation. The attack left him with a deep hatred for terrorists and a desire for revenge, which ultimately led him to join Celestial Being.

Lockon took the codename “Lockon Stratos” upon joining Celestial Being, using it as his identity whilst serving as a Gundam Meister. His desire to eliminate terrorism and the conflicts that created it aligned with Celestial Being’s mission, making him a committed member of the organisation.

Mobile Suit Gundam 00

As a Gundam Meister, Lockon pilots the GN-002 Gundam Dynames, a long-range sniper mobile suit equipped with powerful beam rifles and sniper systems. His exceptional marksmanship makes him highly effective in long-range combat, providing support for his fellow Gundam Meisters during missions.

Lockon’s personality is more laid-back and approachable compared to the other Gundam Meisters, particularly Setsuna F. Seiei. Death

Lockon dies in AD 2308 during a battle with the GNMA-XCVII Alvaaron, a mobile armour piloted by Ali al-Saachez, the terrorist responsible for killing his family. In his final moments, Lockon confronts Ali al-Saachez, achieving a measure of closure before sacrificing himself to protect his teammates.

Lockon’s death has a profound impact on the other Gundam Meisters, particularly Setsuna, who loses a close friend and mentor. His legacy continues to influence Celestial Being’s mission, and his twin brother, Lyle Dylandy, eventually takes up the name “Lockon Stratos” to honour his memory.
