GN-006 Cherudim Gundam
Upgraded sniper Gundam piloted by Lyle Dylandy (Lockon Stratos) in the second season.
The GN-006 Cherudim Gundam (ガンダムケルディム, Gandamu Kerudimu) was an upgraded long-range sniper mobile suit developed by Celestial Being in the Anno Domini timeline, serving as the successor to the GN-002 Gundam Dynames. The Cherudim Gundam was piloted by Lyle Dylandy, who assumed the identity of Lockon Stratos, during Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Second Season, featuring enhanced sniper capabilities and new remote weapon systems.
The “GN-006” model number indicated the mobile suit’s development sequence, whilst the “Cherudim” designation reflected its role as an upgraded long-range unit. The Cherudim Gundam maintained the sniper specialisation of the Dynames whilst incorporating improvements that enhanced its combat effectiveness.
History
The Cherudim Gundam was developed by Celestial Being in Anno Domini 2311, four years after the organisation’s initial armed interventions, as part of its return to operations. The mobile suit was designed as an upgraded successor to the Gundam Dynames, incorporating lessons learned from previous operations and utilising improved technology.
The mobile suit’s development focused on enhancing the long-range sniper capabilities of the Dynames whilst adding new features such as GN Shield Bits for defensive and offensive applications. The Cherudim Gundam maintained the sniper specialisation that had proven effective in previous operations whilst providing improved performance.
The Cherudim Gundam was deployed at the beginning of the second season, as Celestial Being resumed its armed intervention operations. The mobile suit was piloted by Lyle Dylandy, the twin brother of the original Lockon Stratos, who assumed his brother’s identity and role as a Gundam Meister.
Design
The Cherudim Gundam featured a design that evolved from the Gundam Dynames, maintaining the sniper specialisation whilst incorporating improvements. The mobile suit’s most distinctive new feature was its GN Shield Bit system, which provided both defensive and offensive capabilities through remote-controlled units.
The mobile suit’s design emphasised long-range combat effectiveness, with enhanced sensors and improved sniper rifle capabilities. The Cherudim Gundam’s specialisation in long-range combat made it highly effective in providing support fire and eliminating high-value targets from distance.
GN Shield Bit system
The Cherudim Gundam featured a GN Shield Bit system, consisting of nine remote-controlled shield units that could be deployed for both defensive and offensive purposes. The bits could form defensive barriers, intercept incoming attacks, or be used as offensive weapons, providing tactical versatility that enhanced the mobile suit’s effectiveness.
Armaments
The Cherudim Gundam’s standard weapons were the GN Sniper Rifle II for long-range attacks and GN Beam Pistols for close-range combat.
GN Sniper Rifle II
The Cherudim Gundam was equipped with a GN Sniper Rifle II, an improved version of the weapon used by the Dynames. The weapon provided enhanced accuracy and range, making it highly effective for long-range sniping operations. The rifle’s improved design allowed for more precise targeting and greater firepower.
GN Beam Pistol II
The Cherudim Gundam carried two GN Beam Pistol II weapons, providing close-range combat capabilities. These weapons were improved versions of the beam pistols used by the Dynames, offering better performance and reliability.
GN Shield Bits
The Cherudim Gundam’s GN Shield Bit system consisted of nine remote-controlled shield units that could be deployed for various purposes. The bits could form defensive barriers, intercept incoming attacks, or be used as offensive weapons, providing tactical versatility.
GN Beam Sabres
The Cherudim Gundam carried two GN Beam Sabres stored on its legs, providing melee combat capabilities. These weapons could be used for close-combat engagements when necessary, though the mobile suit’s specialisation remained long-range combat.
