Shinji Ikari

Shinji Ikari is the central protagonist of the Evangelion franchise and the reluctant pilot of Evangelion Unit-01. Recalled to Tokyo-3 by his estranged father Gendo Ikari, the commander of NERV, Shinji is forced to fight the Angels despite his fear and low self-worth. His psychological struggles—and his desire for approval and connection—drive much of the series.

Shinji appears across Neon Genesis Evangelion, The End of Evangelion, and the Rebuild of Evangelion films.
