AGE-3 Gundam AGE-3 Normal

The AGE-3 Gundam AGE-3 Normal (ガンダムAGE-3 ノーマル, Gandamu Eiji Surī Nōmaru) was the third generation Gundam in Mobile Suit Gundam AGE, piloted by Kio Asuno. Built using the accumulated combat data of two previous generations, the AGE-3 was the most advanced mobile suit of its era until the development of the AGE-FX.

The AGE-3 introduced modular configuration systems that allowed it to adapt to different combat environments. Its Fortress and Orbital variants provided heavy artillery capability and enhanced space combat performance respectively, making the AGE-3 one of the most versatile Gundams in the franchise.

History

Development

The AGE-3 was developed by the AGE System using combat data from both the AGE-1 and AGE-2. By this point, the AGE System had accumulated decades of combat experience, and the AGE-3 reflected this wealth of knowledge.

The mobile suit was designed specifically for Kio Asuno, whose exceptional X-Rounder abilities required a mobile suit capable of matching his enhanced reflexes and spatial awareness. The AGE-3’s advanced systems and responsive controls made it an ideal match for Kio’s piloting style.

Combat debut

The AGE-3 entered combat during the third generation of the war against Vagan. Kio’s first sorties with the AGE-3 demonstrated the mobile suit’s exceptional performance, quickly establishing it as the most powerful Federation mobile suit of its time.

Kio piloted the AGE-3 in numerous battles, including engagements against Vagan’s elite pilots and their most advanced mobile suits, including the Gundam Legilis.

Evolution into the AGE-FX

As the war reached its climax, the AGE System produced its ultimate creation — the AGE-FX. This final evolution incorporated all combat data from three generations of Asuno pilots and was designed to harness Kio’s X-Rounder abilities to their fullest potential. The AGE-3 effectively served as the prototype for the AGE-FX’s most advanced systems.

Design

Specifications

The AGE-3 stood approximately 20.0 metres tall, making it the tallest of the three standard Gundam generations. It was powered by a plasma reactor outputting 5800 kW — a substantial increase that enabled more powerful weapons and improved system performance.

The AGE-3’s armour used the latest generation of E-Carbon composite, providing superior protection without the weight penalty of earlier designs. The mobile suit’s frame was also redesigned for improved articulation and responsiveness.

Armaments

DODS Rifle

The AGE-3 used an upgraded DODS Rifle with significantly higher output than previous generations. The weapon’s increased power allowed it to penetrate even the heaviest Vagan mobile suit armour.

Beam Sabers

Two beam sabers were mounted for close combat, with improved output and longer duration than earlier generations.

Shield

The AGE-3’s shield incorporated advanced energy absorption technology, providing enhanced protection against both beam and ballistic weapons.

Modular configurations

AGE-3F Fortress

The Fortress configuration transformed the AGE-3 into a heavy artillery platform. It featured massive beam cannons and additional armour, making it ideal for siege operations and engaging heavily defended targets.

AGE-3O Orbital

The Orbital configuration optimised the AGE-3 for space combat, with enhanced thrusters and weapons suited for zero-gravity environments. The Orbital configuration was used primarily during operations outside Earth’s atmosphere.
