AGE-3O Gundam AGE-3 Orbital

The AGE-3O Gundam AGE-3 Orbital (ガンダムAGE-3 オービタル, Gandamu Eiji Surī Ōbitaru) was a space combat configuration of the AGE-3 Gundam in Mobile Suit Gundam AGE. Optimised for zero-gravity operations, the Orbital configuration transformed the AGE-3 into a highly mobile space combat platform designed to excel in the vacuum of space.

History

Development

The Orbital configuration was developed using the AGE System’s evolutionary design process during the third generation of the war against Vagan. Combat data identified a need for a mobile suit configuration optimised for space combat, where the absence of gravity and the three-dimensional nature of the battlefield required different design priorities than ground combat.

The AGE System proposed the Orbital configuration — a variant that prioritised mobility and manoeuvrability in zero gravity. The configuration incorporated enhanced propulsion systems and a streamlined design that reduced drag in space combat scenarios.

Combat deployment

The AGE-3 Orbital was deployed by Kio Asuno during space operations against Vagan forces. The configuration excelled in the zero-gravity environment of space, where its enhanced mobility allowed Kio to outmanoeuvre Vagan mobile suits and engage them on favourable terms.

The Orbital configuration was particularly effective in fleet engagements and space station defence operations, where its mobility and firepower combined to create a formidable combat platform.

Design

Specifications

The AGE-3 Orbital stood approximately 18.5 metres tall and was powered by a plasma reactor with an output of approximately 5200 kW. Its armour was constructed from E-Carbon, the standard composite material used for AGE System mobile suits.

The defining feature of the Orbital configuration was its enhanced propulsion system, which provided significantly greater thrust and manoeuvrability in zero gravity. The mobile suit’s design was streamlined for space combat, with reduced weight and improved thruster placement.

Armaments

DODS Rifle

The Orbital retained the AGE-3’s DODS rifle as its primary ranged weapon, providing effective firepower in both close and medium-range space combat.

Beam Sabers

The Orbital retained beam sabers for close combat, essential in the close-quarters engagements that frequently occurred in space battles.

Shield

A defensive shield was mounted on the Orbital’s left arm, providing protection against enemy fire.
