AGE-1 Gundam AGE-1 Normal

The AGE-1 Gundam AGE-1 Normal (ガンダムAGE-1 ノーマル, Gandamu Eiji Wan Nōmaru) was the first mobile suit built using the AGE System by Flit Asuno. As the original Gundam in Mobile Suit Gundam AGE, it laid the foundation for three generations of mobile suit evolution and became the symbol of humanity’s resistance against Vagan.

The AGE-1 was a prototype mobile suit designed for versatility and adaptability. Its core design incorporated the AGE System’s ability to evolve based on combat data, allowing it to be reconfigured into specialised variants as new threats emerged.

History

Development

The AGE-1 was born from the AGE Device, a data storage unit that Flit Asuno’s mother entrusted to him before dying in the Vagan attack on Ovan. Flit spent years decoding the device’s data at the Earth Federation’s engineering facility, eventually using it to develop the AGE System — a technology that could analyse combat data and evolve mobile suit designs.

The AGE-1 was the first practical application of the AGE System. Flit built the mobile suit from scratch, combining the AGE Device’s blueprints with his own engineering genius. The result was a mobile suit unlike any the Earth Federation had previously produced.

Combat debut

The AGE-1 made its combat debut when Vagan forces attacked the Federation’s manufacturing plant. Flit, despite being an engineer rather than a trained pilot, took to the cockpit and used the AGE-1 to repel the attack. His X-Rounder abilities, combined with the AGE-1’s advanced systems, made him a formidable opponent.

The AGE-1 subsequently served aboard the assault ship Diva, participating in numerous battles against Vagan forces throughout the first generation of the war.

AGE System evolution

The defining feature of the AGE-1 was its integration with the AGE System. As the mobile suit accumulated combat data, the system analysed it and proposed design improvements. This led to the development of specialised variants:

  • AGE-1T Gundam AGE-1 Titus — A heavy armour variant designed for close-quarters combat, with reinforced limbs and powerful melee weapons.
  • AGE-1S Gundam AGE-1 Spallow — A high mobility variant focused on speed and agility, with lightweight armour and enhanced thrusters.

These variants demonstrated the AGE System’s core capability — the ability to adapt and evolve in response to battlefield conditions.

Legacy

The AGE-1’s combat data fed directly into the development of the AGE-2 Gundam, piloted by Flit’s son Asemu Asuno. The evolutionary chain continued through the AGE-3 Gundam and ultimately the AGE-FX, each generation building on the accumulated knowledge of the previous ones.

Design

Specifications

The AGE-1 Normal stood approximately 18.5 metres tall and was powered by a plasma reactor capable of outputting 3200 kW of power. Its armour was constructed from E-Carbon, a lightweight composite material that provided excellent protection without sacrificing mobility.

Armaments

DODS Rifle

The AGE-1’s primary weapon was the DODS Rifle, a beam weapon that used discharge oscillation technology to deliver powerful energy bolts. The DODS Rifle was one of the most effective beam weapons of its era, capable of penetrating Vagan mobile suit armour with ease.

Beam Sabers

The AGE-1 carried two beam sabers mounted in its backpack for close combat. These weapons used Minovsky particle technology to create energy blades capable of cutting through most materials.

Shield

A defensive shield was mounted on the AGE-1’s left arm, providing protection against ballistic and beam weapons.
