Steer

Steer (スティアー, Sutiā) was the helmsman of the Megafauna, the pirate vessel operated by the Pirate Corps under the command of Captain Donyell Tos. As the officer responsible for navigating the ship, Steer played a critical role in the Pirate Corps’ operations during the events of Mobile Suit Gundam: Reconguista in G.

Biography

Service aboard the Megafauna

The Megafauna was a large-capacity vessel that served as the mobile base of operations for the Pirate Corps. As helmsman, Steer was responsible for piloting the ship through the complex environments of the Regild Century — from Earth’s atmosphere to the orbital regions around the Capital Tower and the transit routes to the Moon. His skill in navigation was essential to the Pirate Corps’ ability to operate independently and respond rapidly to emerging situations.

Steer worked closely with Captain Donyell Tos to execute the ship’s missions, which ranged from reconnaissance and transport to direct military engagement. The Megafauna’s role as a neutral platform — capable of interacting with the Capital Guard, the Capital Army, the Amerian Army, and the forces of Towasanga — required precise navigation and timing, and Steer’s expertise made these manoeuvres possible.

Crew dynamics

Steer was part of a close-knit crew that included Chickara Dual, the ship’s chief mechanic, and the various pilots who operated the Megafauna’s mobile suit complement. The Pirate Corps’ egalitarian culture meant that Steer’s role, while specialised, was part of a collaborative effort rather than a rigid hierarchy. This approach to crew management contributed to the Megafauna’s effectiveness in the chaotic political environment of Reconguista in G.

Personality & traits

Steer was a focused and capable officer whose calm demeanour under pressure made him well-suited to the demands of ship navigation. His loyalty to Captain Donyell Tos and the Pirate Corps was rooted in a shared commitment to the independence and freedom that the Megafauna represented.
