Chickara Dual (チカラ・デュアル, Chikara Dyuaru) was the chief mechanic aboard the Megafauna, the pirate vessel operated by the Pirate Corps during the events of Mobile Suit Gundam: Reconguista in G. His technical expertise was essential to keeping the Pirate Corps’ mobile suits and ship systems operational throughout the conflicts of the Regild Century.
Biography
Technical role aboard the Megafauna
As chief mechanic, Chickara Dual was responsible for the maintenance, repair, and modification of the mobile suits operated by the Pirate Corps. This included a variety of machines from different manufacturers and eras, reflecting the eclectic nature of the Pirate Corps’ forces. The Megafauna carried mobile suits sourced from the Amerian Army, the Capital Army, and other factions, and Chickara Dual’s ability to work across different technical standards was a valuable asset.
His responsibilities extended beyond mobile suits to include the ship’s own systems — propulsion, life support, weapons, and communications. The Megafauna operated in diverse environments, from Earth’s atmosphere to the vacuum of space and the transit corridors to the Moon, and each environment placed different demands on the ship’s mechanical systems.
The G-Self and technical mystery
When the YG-111 Gundam G-Self came aboard the Megafauna, Chickara Dual faced one of the most unusual technical challenges of his career. The G-Self was an ancient machine from the era before the Universal Century Taboo, incorporating technology that was not fully understood by Regild Century engineers. Its photon battery power system and the Rayhunton Code activation mechanism were unlike anything in conventional mobile suit design.
Chickara Dual’s work on the G-Self, while limited by the machine’s unique security systems, contributed to the crew’s understanding of the ancient technology and its implications for the broader conflict.
Personality & traits
Chickara Dual was a dedicated and resourceful technician whose practical approach to problem-solving made him invaluable to the Pirate Corps. He had a hands-on relationship with his work, preferring to understand machines through direct engagement rather than theoretical analysis.
