Noredo Nug
Capital Guard cadet and close friend of Bellri Zenam who chose duty over friendship.
Noredo Nug (ノレド・ナグ, Noredo Nagu) was a Capital Guard cadet and close friend of Bellri Zenam during the events of Mobile Suit Gundam: Reconguista in G. While Bellri’s discovery of the YG-111 Gundam G-Self drew him into the orbit of the Pirate Corps, Noredo remained loyal to the Capital Guard, creating a friendship strained by opposing allegiances.
Biography
Academy friendship
Noredo Nug and Bellri Zenam trained together at the Capital Tower Academy, forming a close friendship based on shared experiences and mutual trust. Both were promising cadets in the Capital Guard, preparing for careers dedicated to protecting the sacred Tower and the photon battery supply upon which Regild Century civilisation depended.
Their friendship was genuine and deep, making the subsequent divergence of their paths all the more painful. When Bellri discovered the YG-111 Gundam G-Self and became associated with the Megafauna and the Pirate Corps, Noredo was left behind in the Capital Guard — an institution that increasingly viewed Bellri’s actions as treasonous.
Duty versus friendship
Noredo’s loyalty to the Capital Guard placed him in direct opposition to his friend. As the Reconguista conflict escalated, Noredo found himself ordered to take action against the very person he considered his closest companion. This internal conflict — between duty to the institution he had sworn to serve and loyalty to the friend he had trained alongside — defined Noredo’s character arc throughout the series.
The Capital Guard’s response to the G-Self’s activation was complicated by the involvement of multiple factions. The Capital Army pursued its own agenda, the Amerian Army was an active adversary, and the forces of Towasanga from the Moon introduced additional complexity. Noredo navigated these competing pressures as a cadet trying to reconcile his personal convictions with institutional demands.
Character development
Noredo’s journey in Reconguista in G was one of growth and disillusionment. As he witnessed the true nature of the conflict — the suppressed history of the Universal Century Taboo, the competing agendas of the various factions, and the extent to which the official narrative was incomplete — his understanding of duty evolved. He did not simply abandon his loyalty to the Capital Guard, but his interpretation of what that loyalty meant became more nuanced.
Personality & traits
Noredo Nug was a principled and loyal individual whose commitment to his friends and his duty were both genuine. The tension between these two loyalties — personal and institutional — was the defining feature of his character. Unlike some of his peers, Noredo was capable of questioning authority when circumstances demanded it, even if he ultimately chose to remain within the system rather than rebel against it.
