ASW-G-01 Gundam Bael
Gundam Frame piloted by Agna Garm in the Calamity War and later by McGillis Fareed.
The ASW-G-01 Gundam Bael (ASW-G-01 ガンダムベイール) is a Gundam Frame from the Calamity War and the machine piloted by Agna Garm, the founder of Gjallarhorn. In Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans it is recovered and piloted by McGillis Fareed, who uses it to legitimise his coup against the Seven Stars. The Bael is armed with two large swords and relies on close combat.
History
The Bael was one of the 72 Gundam Frames created during the Calamity War. Agna Garm piloted it to help end the conflict and later established Gjallarhorn; the unit was enshrined and sealed. McGillis, seeking to inherit Garm’s symbolic authority, unseals the Bael and uses it as the centrepiece of his rebellion. He is defeated by Rustal Elion’s forces; the Bael is destroyed and McGillis is killed.
Design
The Bael uses dual Ahab Reactors and nanolaminate armour like other Gundam Frames. Its signature armaments are a pair of large swords (Bael swords), giving it a focus on melee combat. It has no rifle or long-range armament in its standard configuration.
