Ahab Reactor

The Ahab Reactor (アハブ・リアクター, Ahabu Riakutā) is the primary power source for mobile suits and spacecraft in the Post Disaster timeline. It generates Ahab Waves, which disrupt wireless communications and radar, shaping the tactical environment in Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans and requiring relay networks such as the Half Metal Communication Network for long-range contact.

Overview

Mobile suits typically mount a single Ahab Reactor; Gundam Frames use two, giving them higher output and performance. The reactor provides power for propulsion, weapons, and systems. Ahab Waves make conventional radar and wireless unreliable, so combat often relies on visual range and wired or relay-based communication.

Use

Gjallarhorn and Tekkadan units are powered by Ahab Reactors. Mass-production machines such as the EB-06 Graze and STH-16 Shiden use one reactor; the ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos and other Gundam Frames use dual reactors.
