McGillis Fareed

McGillis Fareed (マクギリス・ファリド, Makugirisu Farido) is a high-ranking officer in Gjallarhorn and later pilot of the ASW-G-01 Gundam Bael in Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. He initially cooperates with Tekkadan for his own ends and ultimately attempts to seize control of Gjallarhorn by reviving the legend of Agna Garm and the Bael, but is defeated by Rustal Elion and killed.

Biography

McGillis was adopted into the Fareed family of Gjallarhorn’s Seven Stars after a traumatic childhood. He rose through the ranks and secretly aimed to overthrow the corrupt Seven Stars and reform Gjallarhorn. He provided Tekkadan with intelligence and tactical support when it suited him, and later piloted the Gundam Bael—the machine of Agna Garm, founder of Gjallarhorn—to legitimise his coup. His rebellion was crushed by Rustal Elion, who used Dainsleif and political manoeuvring. McGillis was killed in battle when his Bael was destroyed.

Personality and role

McGillis is calculating and charismatic, using both Tekkadan and Gjallarhorn factions to advance his goal of a “rightful” order. His fixation on the Bael and Agna Garm’s legend reveals his need for a noble justification for power. He functions as an antagonist-turned-rival and ultimately a failed revolutionary, contrasting with Tekkadan’s more direct struggle.
