Kerbes Yoh

Kerbes Yoh (ケルベス・ヨオ, Kerubesu Yoo) was a Capital Guard instructor stationed at the Capital Tower Academy, where he was responsible for training the next generation of Tower defenders. Among his students was Bellri Zenam, the cadet who would later become the sole pilot of the YG-111 Gundam G-Self.

Biography

Role at the Academy

Kerbes Yoh served as one of the senior instructors at the Capital Guard Academy, the institution responsible for training personnel to protect the sacred Capital Tower orbital elevator. His duties included teaching mobile suit operation, combat tactics, and the ideological foundations of the Capital Guard’s mission — namely, the protection of the photon battery supply that sustained civilisation in the Regild Century.

As an instructor, Kerbes Yoh was known for his disciplined approach and his deep commitment to the principles of the Capital Guard. He believed in the importance of the Tower’s protective mission and sought to instill that same conviction in his students.

Relationship with cadets

Kerbes Yoh had direct oversight of the cadets who would become central figures in the events of Reconguista in G. His students included Bellri Zenam, whose earnest nature and exceptional aptitude made him a standout pupil. Kerbes Yoh recognised Bellri’s potential early on, though neither instructor nor student could have anticipated the role Bellri would play in the unfolding conflict.

When the Pirate Corps aboard the Megafauna began operating near the Capital Tower, Kerbes Yoh found himself caught between his duty to maintain order and the growing realisation that the situation was far more complex than the Academy’s teachings had prepared him for. The discovery of the G-Self and the involvement of multiple factions — including the Capital Army and the Amerian Army — challenged everything the Capital Guard had been trained to believe.

Personality & traits

Kerbes Yoh was a disciplined and principled officer who took his role as an instructor seriously. He believed in the importance of structure, hierarchy, and the traditional values of the Capital Guard. However, he was not blind to the complexities of the world beyond the Tower, and his experiences during the Reconguista conflict forced him to reconsider some of his most deeply held assumptions.

His relationship with his cadets was characterised by a mix of strict discipline and genuine care for their development. He saw his role not merely as a teacher of combat skills but as a shaper of character.
