The Deucalion (デュカリオン, Dukarion) is an Earth Forces landing ship in Aldnoah.Zero. Serving as a mobile base of operations for Kataphrakt units during the war against the Vers Empire, the Deucalion is one of the Earth Forces’ most important assets in the conflict.
History
The Deucalion was commissioned by the Earth Forces as part of their efforts to develop effective countermeasures against the Vers Empire’s invasion. As a landing ship, it was designed to transport and deploy Kataphrakt units to combat zones, serving as a mobile command centre and maintenance facility for its embarked forces.
During the Vers–Earth War, the Deucalion participated in numerous operations against Vers forces. The ship became notable for its association with Inaho Kaizuka, whose tactical innovations aboard the ship helped turn the tide of several engagements. The Deucalion’s crew, including officers like Marito Kaizuka, demonstrated the Earth Forces’ growing competence in countering Vers advantages.
Design
The Deucalion features a design optimised for transporting and deploying Kataphrakt units. Its hangar facilities can accommodate multiple Areion units, whilst its command systems allow for coordinated operations with embarked forces. The ship’s defences include naval guns and point defence systems, though its primary role is support rather than direct combat.
Kataphrakt operations
The Deucalion’s primary function is to serve as a mobile base for Kataphrakt operations. Its hangar allows for maintenance and preparation of embarked units, whilst its deployment systems enable rapid launch of Kataphrakts into combat zones. This capability made the Deucalion a valuable asset for the Earth Forces, able to project power across multiple theatres of operation.
Command and control
The ship’s command facilities allow it to coordinate complex operations involving multiple Kataphrakt units and supporting forces. This capability was essential during engagements against the Vers Empire, where tactical flexibility and rapid response were necessary to counter Aldnoah-powered opponents.
