Bisidian

Bisidian (ビシディアン, Bishidian) was a space pirate organisation that operated during the events of Mobile Suit Gundam AGE. Led by the enigmatic “Captain Ash” — secretly Asemu Asuno operating under a false identity — Bisidian existed outside the formal conflict between the Earth Federation and Vagan.

Despite being classified as pirates, Bisidian operated with a moral code that set them apart from typical space outlaws. The organisation targeted both Federation and Vagan vessels when their actions threatened civilian populations, making them a wildcard in the broader conflict.

Overview

Bisidian was a space pirate organisation that operated in the space between Earth and the colonies. Unlike criminal pirate groups motivated purely by profit, Bisidian was driven by a sense of justice — protecting civilians and disrupting military operations that threatened innocent lives.

The organisation was led by “Captain Ash,” a mysterious figure who commanded the respect and loyalty of his crew. Captain Ash piloted the AGE-2DH Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound, a stealth-oriented mobile suit that was perfectly suited to Bisidian’s hit-and-run tactics.

History

Formation

Bisidian was formed during the period of conflict between the Earth Federation and Vagan. The organisation attracted individuals who had been displaced by the war and sought to protect civilians caught in the crossfire. Many of Bisidian’s members were former military personnel who had become disillusioned with the official conduct of the war.

Captain Ash’s leadership

The turning point in Bisidian’s history came when Asemu Asuno joined the organisation following his apparent death in battle. Asemu’s AGE-2 Gundam had been destroyed, and he was rescued by Bisidian pirates. Choosing not to reveal his identity, Asemu adopted the persona of “Captain Ash” and gradually rose to lead the organisation.

Under Captain Ash’s leadership, Bisidian became a more effective force. Asemu’s military training and piloting skills gave the organisation a tactical edge that it had previously lacked. His personal code of honour — protecting the innocent above all else — became Bisidian’s guiding principle.

The Dark Hound

As Captain Ash, Asemu piloted the AGE-2DH Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound, a stealth variant of the AGE-2 designed for covert operations. The Dark Hound’s cloaking capabilities and enhanced close-combat weapons made it the perfect mobile suit for Bisidian’s guerrilla tactics.

Relationship with the Federation

Bisidian’s relationship with the Earth Federation was complex. Officially, the Federation considered Bisidian to be criminals. However, many Federation officers recognised that Bisidian’s actions often aligned with Federation interests — particularly when the pirates disrupted Vagan operations that threatened Federation colonies.

Identity reveal

Captain Ash’s true identity as Asemu Asuno was eventually revealed during an encounter with his son Kio Asuno, who was piloting the AGE-3 Gundam. The revelation had significant emotional impact, particularly on Asemu’s father Flit Asuno, who had believed his son was dead.

After his identity was revealed, Asemu played a crucial role in the war’s final stages, using his experience and understanding of both sides to help bridge the divide between the Federation and Vagan.

Operations

Bisidian’s operations typically involved:

  • Protecting civilian convoys from both Federation and Vagan attacks
  • Disrupting military supply lines that threatened civilian populations
  • Gathering intelligence on both sides’ military movements
  • Rescuing refugees displaced by the war

The organisation’s hit-and-run tactics, combined with the Dark Hound’s stealth capabilities, made Bisidian difficult to track and engage effectively.
