The AGE-2DH Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound (ガンダムAGE-2 ダークハウンド, Gandamu Eiji Tsū Dāku Haundo) was a modified AGE-2 Gundam piloted by Asemu Asuno under the alias “Captain Ash” during his time with the Bisidian space pirates in Mobile Suit Gundam AGE. The Dark Hound represented a significant departure from the standard AGE-2 design, reflecting Asemu’s break from the Earth Federation and his new life as a pirate.

History

Transformation from AGE-2

The Dark Hound was created when Asemu Asuno, presumed dead by the Earth Federation, joined the Bisidian space pirates. The Bisidian modified the AGE-2’s design to create a new mobile suit that reflected Asemu’s changed circumstances and combat needs.

The modifications included a distinctive dark colour scheme — a stark contrast to the bright appearance of the standard AGE-2 — and performance enhancements tailored to Asemu’s evolving combat style. The Bisidian’s engineering expertise allowed them to modify the AGE-2 despite not having access to the AGE System’s full capabilities.

Combat deployment as Captain Ash

Asemu piloted the Dark Hound under the name “Captain Ash,” concealing his true identity from both the Earth Federation and Vagan. The Dark Hound’s dark appearance and Asemu’s hidden identity made the mobile suit a mysterious and feared presence on the battlefield.

As Captain Ash, Asemu used the Dark Hound in Bisidian operations throughout space. The mobile suit’s performance was comparable to — and in some respects superior to — the standard AGE-2, making it a formidable opponent for both Federation and Vagan forces.

Reunion with the Federation

The Dark Hound’s true identity was eventually revealed when Asemu’s connection to the Earth Federation became known. The revelation that “Captain Ash” was actually Flit Asuno’s long-lost son was a significant turning point in the series’ narrative, bridging the gap between the second and third generations of the story.

Specifications

The Dark Hound retained the AGE-2’s core systems — including its plasma reactor and E-Carbon armour — but featured extensive modifications to its exterior appearance and weapon systems. The dark colour scheme was the most obvious change, giving the mobile suit a menacing appearance that reflected Asemu’s new identity.

Armaments

The Dark Hound was equipped with beam sabers, a DODS rifle, and a defensive shield. These were similar to the weapons used by the standard AGE-2 but were modified by the Bisidian to suit Asemu’s combat preferences.
