The xvv-xc Zedas (xvv-xc ゼダス, xvv-xc Zedasu) was a transformable mobile armour piloted by Zeheart Galette in Mobile Suit Gundam AGE. As one of Vagan’s early commander-class mobile suits, the Zedas combined the versatility of a mobile suit with the speed and mobility of an aircraft, making it a formidable unit on the battlefield.

The Zedas was assigned to Zeheart during the second generation of the war, where he used it to great effect against Earth Federation forces. Its transformation capability gave Zeheart tactical flexibility, allowing him to switch between mobile suit combat and high-speed aerial manoeuvres as the situation demanded.

History

Development

The Zedas was developed by Vagan’s engineering corps as a commander-class mobile suit for elite pilots. It was designed to bridge the gap between standard mass production units like the Gafran and the more advanced custom mobile suits that would follow.

The transformable design was inspired by the tactical advantages observed in Federation mobile suits with similar capabilities. Vagan engineers incorporated transformation mechanics that allowed the Zedas to switch between a bipedal mobile suit mode and a streamlined aircraft mode, providing both combat versatility and high-speed mobility.

Zeheart’s unit

Zeheart Galette was assigned the Zedas as his personal mobile suit during the second generation of the war. He used the unit in numerous engagements against the Earth Federation, including battles against Asemu Asuno and his AGE-2 Gundam.

Zeheart’s skill as a pilot, combined with the Zedas’s transformation capability, made him one of the most dangerous Vagan commanders on the battlefield. The Zedas’s versatility allowed Zeheart to adapt his tactics to different combat scenarios, from high-speed interceptions to sustained mobile suit engagements.

Successor

As the war progressed and Vagan’s technology advanced, the Zedas was eventually replaced by the Zeydra, a more powerful mobile suit that built upon the Zedas’s design foundation. The Zeydra offered improved performance and firepower, reflecting Zeheart’s growing status within Vagan’s military hierarchy.

The Zedas stood approximately 19.0 metres tall in mobile suit mode and transformed into a streamlined aircraft configuration for high-speed flight. The transformation mechanism was one of the Zedas’s defining features, allowing Zeheart to switch between combat modes seamlessly.

Transformation

The Zedas could transform between two primary modes:

Mobile Suit Mode — Standard bipedal configuration for combat, with full access to beam weapons and melee capabilities.
Mobile Armour Mode — Streamlined aircraft configuration for high-speed flight and rapid repositioning on the battlefield.

The transformation process was rapid and could be executed mid-combat, giving Zeheart a significant tactical advantage over pilots operating non-transformable mobile suits.
