Soma Peries

Soma Peries (ソーマ・ピーリス, Sōma Pīrisu) was a Human Reform League Super Soldier in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 who later served the A-LAWS and eventually Celestial Being. Her true identity is Marie Parfacy (マリー・パーファシー, Marī Pāfashī), Allelujah Haptism’s childhood friend from the HRL Super Human Research Institute. After regaining her memories as Marie, she defected to Celestial Being and fought alongside Allelujah, with whom she shared a deep mental and emotional connection.

Biography

Super Soldier and HRL

Soma was raised and enhanced at the HRL’s Super Human Research Institute, the same facility where Allelujah was held as Test Subject E-57. She did not initially remember her past as Marie Parfacy; under the name Soma Peries she served as a Second Lieutenant and mobile suit pilot for the HRL, engaging Celestial Being in combat. She and Allelujah shared a mental link as fellow Super Soldiers, which caused confusion and conflict when they met on the battlefield.

A-LAWS and confrontation with Allelujah

After the formation of the A-LAWS, Soma was transferred to the new organisation and continued to pilot advanced units such as the Over Flag and GN-XIII. During a space battle, Allelujah discovered that Soma was in fact Marie Parfacy, his childhood friend from the institute. The revelation and their mental connection allowed Soma to begin recovering her suppressed memories.

Defection to Celestial Being

Once Soma regained her identity as Marie, she chose to leave A-LAWS and join Celestial Being, where she could be with Allelujah and support the organisation’s mission. She joined the Ptolemaios crew and fought alongside the Gundam Meisters for the remainder of the conflict against A-LAWS and the Innovators.

Personality and traits

As Soma, she was cold and mission-focused, a product of HRL conditioning. As Marie, she was warmer and more emotional, reconnecting with Allelujah and finding a place among Celestial Being’s crew.

Relationships

Allelujah Haptism

Allelujah and Soma/Marie were linked by their shared past at the Super Human Research Institute and their Super Soldier nature. Their reunion and Soma’s recovery of her identity as Marie became a central thread in the second season, and they remained together at Celestial Being.

Soma Peries was created for Mobile Suit Gundam 00 as an antagonist-turned-ally whose true identity as Marie Parfacy ties her to Allelujah’s backstory and completes his character arc.
