Allelujah Haptism – Mobile Suit Gundam 00

Allelujah Haptism (アレルヤ・ハプティズム, Areruya Haputizumu) is a Gundam Meister for Celestial Being who pilots the GN-003 Gundam Kyrios in Mobile Suit Gundam 00. A former Human Reform League (HRL) Super Soldier, Allelujah possesses a split personality as a result of experimental brain surgery performed on him as a child. His alternate personality, “Hallelujah”, is a violent and aggressive individual who emerges during combat.

Biography

Early life and Super Soldier programme

Allelujah was born in AD 2289 and was subjected to experimental brain surgery as part of the HRL’s Super Soldier programme, which aimed to create enhanced soldiers through psychological conditioning and brain modification. The surgery resulted in a split personality, with Allelujah’s consciousness divided between his normal self and an aggressive alternate personality called “Hallelujah”.

The Super Soldier programme involved isolating children and subjecting them to traumatic conditioning to eliminate emotions and create obedient soldiers. Allelujah’s split personality was an unintended result of the programme, with Hallelujah representing the suppressed violent impulses that the programme attempted to eliminate.

Allelujah eventually escaped from the Super Soldier programme and was rescued by Celestial Being, joining the organisation as a Gundam Meister. His experiences in the programme left him with deep psychological scars, and he continues to struggle with his split personality throughout the series.

Mobile Suit Gundam 00

As a Gundam Meister, Allelujah pilots the GN-003 Gundam Kyrios, a transformable mobile suit capable of switching between mobile suit and mobile armour modes. His piloting skills are enhanced when Hallelujah takes control, as the aggressive personality provides superior combat performance at the cost of Allelujah’s emotional stability.
