Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury (機動戦士ガンダム 水星の魔女, Kidō Senshi Gandamu Suisei no Majo) is a 2022 Japanese mecha anime produced by Sunrise, set in the Ad Stella (A.S.) timeline. It is the first Gundam television series with a female protagonist, Suletta Mercury, who pilots the XVX-016 Gundam Aerial at the Asticassia School of Technology. The story explores corporate dominance in space, the GUND Format and GUND-ARMS, and the divide between Spacians and Earthians.

Overview

The series is set in A.S. 122, when the Benerit Group dominates space and runs Asticassia as a training ground for corporate heirs. Suletta, raised on Mercury, transfers to Asticassia and becomes the holder of the Gundam Aerial, which uses the banned GUND Format. She forms a bond with Miorine Rembran, daughter of Delling Rembran, and is drawn into duels, corporate intrigue, and the legacy of the Vanadis Incident and Prospera Mercury’s revenge.

Plot

Synopsis

Suletta Mercury arrives at Asticassia and wins a duel that makes her the holder of Miorine Rembran, who is seeking to escape her father’s control. Suletta pilots the Gundam Aerial—a GUND-ARMS that does not harm its pilot—and faces rivals such as Guel Jeturk and Shaddiq Zenelli. The truth about Aerial, Ericht Samaya, and Prospera’s plan gradually emerges, leading to the final conflict over the future of GUND technology and the Benerit Group.
