Emily Amonde

Emily Amonde (エミリー・アモンド, Emirī Amondo) was a civilian engineer in Mobile Suit Gundam AGE who became the wife of Flit Asuno and a key supporter of the AGE System project. Working alongside Flit at the Earth Federation’s engineering facility, she helped maintain and improve the Gundam mobile suits throughout the decades-long war against Vagan.

Emily represented the civilian backbone of the Federation’s war effort — the engineers and technicians who kept the mobile suits operational and who sustained the families of the pilots who fought on the front lines.

Biography

Early life

Emily was born in A.G. 101, the same year as Flit Asuno. She grew up in the Earth Federation and eventually found her way to the Federation’s engineering facility, where her technical skills earned her a position working on mobile suit maintenance and development.

Working with Flit

Emily met Flit Asuno when he was working to decode the AGE Device at the Federation’s engineering facility. Despite Flit’s obsessive dedication to his work, Emily saw past his gruff exterior and recognised the passion driving him. She became one of his closest colleagues, helping with the technical aspects of the AGE System’s development.

As Flit’s understanding of the AGE Device deepened, Emily’s support became invaluable. She assisted with the engineering challenges that emerged as the AGE System was translated from theoretical blueprints into practical mobile suit technology. Her steady presence helped ground Flit during the intense development period that led to the creation of the AGE-1 Gundam.

Marriage and family

Emily and Flit eventually married and had a son, Asemu Asuno. Their relationship was tested by Flit’s unwavering obsession with defeating Vagan — a mission that consumed much of his attention and energy. Emily understood the importance of Flit’s work, but she also wanted her husband to be present as a father.

Despite the strain, Emily remained a devoted partner and a fierce advocate for her family. When Asemu grew up and became a mobile suit pilot himself, Emily bore the burden of watching both her husband and son face the dangers of war.

Supporting the war effort

Throughout the war, Emily continued her engineering work, helping to maintain the AGE System’s mobile suits and supporting the crews of the assault ship Diva. Her technical expertise and calm demeanour made her a stabilising presence for the crew.

By the third generation, Emily had become a grandmother to Kio Asuno, and she watched with a mixture of pride and concern as the war that had consumed Flit’s life now threatened her grandson as well.

Personality & traits

Emily was patient, practical, and deeply caring. She had a quiet strength that allowed her to endure the hardships of war while maintaining her humanity. Unlike Flit, whose worldview was shaped by hatred and vengeance, Emily held onto hope for peace and reconciliation.

She was a skilled engineer in her own right, with a particular talent for mobile suit maintenance and systems integration. Her technical contributions to the AGE System project were significant, though she never sought recognition for her work.
