The GN-007 Arios Gundam (ガンダムアリオス, Gandamu Ariosu) was an upgraded transformable mobile suit developed by Celestial Being in the Anno Domini timeline, serving as the successor to the GN-003 Gundam Kyrios. The Arios Gundam was piloted by Allelujah Haptism during Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Second Season, featuring enhanced capabilities and improved performance compared to its predecessor.
The “GN-007” model number indicated the mobile suit’s development sequence, whilst the “Arios” designation reflected its role as an upgraded high-mobility unit. The Arios Gundam maintained the transformable design of the Kyrios whilst incorporating improvements that enhanced its combat effectiveness.
History
The Arios Gundam was developed by Celestial Being in Anno Domini 2311, four years after the organisation’s initial armed interventions, as part of its return to operations. The mobile suit was designed as an upgraded successor to the Gundam Kyrios, incorporating lessons learned from previous operations and utilising improved technology.
The mobile suit’s development focused on enhancing the transformable capabilities of the Kyrios whilst improving overall performance. The Arios Gundam maintained the ability to transform between mobile suit and mobile armour modes, providing tactical versatility that had proven valuable in previous operations.
The Arios Gundam was deployed at the beginning of the second season, as Celestial Being resumed its armed intervention operations. The mobile suit’s enhanced capabilities made it a more effective unit than the Kyrios, allowing Allelujah to engage opponents with improved performance.
Design
The Arios Gundam featured a design that evolved from the Gundam Kyrios, maintaining the transformable configuration whilst incorporating improvements. The mobile suit’s most distinctive feature remained its ability to transform between mobile suit and mobile armour modes, providing enhanced speed and mobility in mobile armour mode.
The mobile suit’s design emphasised high mobility and versatility, allowing it to excel in various combat situations. The Arios Gundam’s transformable capabilities provided tactical flexibility, as it could switch between modes to adapt to different combat requirements.
Transformation system
The Arios Gundam’s transformation system allowed it to reconfigure between mobile suit and mobile armour modes, similar to the Kyrios. The mobile armour mode emphasised speed and mobility, whilst the mobile suit mode provided combat versatility. The transformation system’s improved design provided smoother transitions and enhanced performance in both modes.
Armaments
The Arios Gundam’s standard weapons were the GN Beam Submachine Gun for ranged attacks and GN Beam Sabres for melee combat.
GN Beam Submachine Gun
The Arios Gundam was equipped with a GN Beam Submachine Gun, an improved version of the weapon used by the Kyrios. The weapon provided rapid-fire beam attacks, making it effective in mobile armour mode combat and close-range engagements.
GN Beam Sabres
The Arios Gundam carried two GN Beam Sabres stored on its hips, providing close-combat capabilities. These weapons could be used in mobile suit mode for melee engagements, maintaining the mobile suit’s versatility.
GN Shield
The Arios Gundam carried a GN Shield, providing defence against both physical and beam attacks. The shield could be used in both mobile suit and mobile armour modes, maintaining defensive capabilities across all configurations.
GN Missiles
Multiple GN Missiles were stored in the Arios Gundam’s shoulders, providing additional firepower for engaging multiple enemies or area targets. The missiles’ capabilities were enhanced compared to those of the Kyrios.
