ZGMF-X88S Gaia Gundam

The ZGMF-X88S Gaia Gundam (ガイアガンダム, Gaia Gandamu) was a prototype transformable mobile suit developed by ZAFT and one of the three Second Stage units stolen by the Earth Alliance’s Phantom Pain during the Battle at Armory One. Stella Loussier piloted it in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. The Gaia used Variable Phase Shift Armor and could transform into a quadruped mobile armour mode for high-speed ground combat. It was powered by a deuterion beam recharge system (receiving energy from a mother ship) rather than a nuclear reactor.

History

The Gaia was stored at Armory One when Phantom Pain attacked. Stella stole it and used it as her primary unit until she was reassigned to the Destroy Gundam for the Battle of Berlin.

Design

The Gaia emphasised mobility and assault in both MS and MA modes. In MA form its four-legged configuration allowed fast movement across terrain.
