ZGMF-X19A Infinite Justice Gundam

The ZGMF-X19A Infinite Justice Gundam (インフィニットジャスティスガンダム, Infinito Jasutisu Gandamu) was a prototype close-combat mobile suit developed by ZAFT and piloted by Athrun Zala in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. It was the successor to the ZGMF-X09A Justice Gundam, provided to Athrun by Lacus Clyne’s faction (the network sometimes called Terminal) so he could oppose Gilbert Durandal’s Destiny Plan. The Infinite Justice used Variable Phase Shift Armor and an ultracompact hyper-deuterion nuclear reactor (with Neutron Jammer Canceller), and its main tactical asset was the Fatum-01 sub-flight unit—an improved version of the Justice’s Fatum-00—which could detach for attack runs, carry beam blades, and dock with the mobile suit for high mobility.

History

Development and deployment

ZAFT developed the Infinite Justice as part of its Second Stage Series. The unit was stolen (or diverted) by Terminal and given to Athrun after he defected from ZAFT. Athrun used it from the Eternal and alongside the Archangel and Kusanagi in the Three Ships Alliance to confront Durandal and the Earth Alliance during the climax of the Second Alliance-PLANT War.

Design

The Infinite Justice emphasised close combat and anti-ship strikes. The Fatum-01 unit could operate as a separate attack craft or attach to the backpack for extra thrust and manoeuvrability. The suit was armed with beam sabres (including one in the shield), beam boomerangs, grapple stingers in the legs, and a beam rifle.
