Vingolf Proclamation
PD 001 declaration that ended the Calamity War and established Gjallarhorn and the Post Disaster calendar.
The Vingolf Proclamation (ヴィングルフ宣言, Vingorufu Sengen) was a declaration issued in PD 001 that marked the end of the Calamity War and established the Post Disaster calendar and Gjallarhorn’s role as the solar system’s peacekeeping organisation. It is the foundational event of the Post Disaster era in Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans.
Overview
The proclamation formalised the war’s end and gave Gjallarhorn authority to maintain order and regulate military power. It also established restrictions on certain weapons, including the Dainsleif, which had caused severe damage to the Moon during the conflict. The Post Disaster (PD) calendar dates from this event, with PD 001 as year one.
Legacy
The Vingolf Proclamation is cited whenever the series refers to Gjallarhorn’s legitimacy, the ban on Dainsleif, or the origin of the PD calendar. By PD 323, Gjallarhorn’s interpretation of that mandate has become corrupt, driving the conflict with Tekkadan and McGillis Fareed.
