South Burning

South Burning (サウス・バニング, Sausu Banningu) was an experienced Earth Federation Forces mobile suit pilot who commanded the Albion’s mobile suit team during Operation Stardust in UC 0083. As leader of the team that would become known as the “Immortal 4th Team,” South represented professional military competence and mentorship, guiding younger pilots like Kou Uraki whilst facing the Delaz Fleet’s veteran Zeon remnants.

Military Background

South Burning was veteran pilot with extensive combat experience from the One Year War. His service record and tactical expertise made him natural choice to command the Albion’s mobile suit complement during the critical test deployment of the Gundam Development Project units.

Command of Mobile Suit Team

South led the Albion’s pilots with professional competence and tactical acumen. His command style balanced military discipline with understanding of his pilots’ capabilities and limitations, providing mentorship to less experienced team members whilst maintaining operational effectiveness.

Immortal 4th Team

South Burning died during Operation Stardust, killed in combat whilst protecting his pilots or engaging Delaz Fleet forces. His death devastated the team, particularly Kou, who lost his commander and mentor. South’s sacrifice exemplified the professional soldier’s dedication to duty and subordinates.
