Operation Stardust

Operation Stardust (星屑作戦, Hoshikuzu Sakusen) was a two-phase military operation conducted by the Delaz Fleet, Zeon remnants led by Aiguille Delaz, in UC 0083. The operation involved Anavel Gato stealing the nuclear-armed RX-78GP02A Gundam “Physalis”, conducting a nuclear strike against the Federation fleet, and ultimately dropping a colony on Earth. Though tactically successful, Operation Stardust’s political consequences – providing justification for the Titans’ creation – would prove catastrophic for spacenoid interests.

Phase One: Nuclear Strike

13 October UC 0083: Anavel Gato infiltrated Torrington Base and stole the GP02A.

Naval Review Attack: Gato deployed the nuclear weapon against the assembled Federation fleet, destroying significant naval assets.

Phase Two: Colony Drop

The Delaz Fleet dropped a colony on Earth, repeating the One Year War’s Operation British. Despite Federation efforts, the colony struck Earth’s agricultural breadbasket, killing millions.

Consequences

Operation Stardust succeeded tactically but failed strategically:

• Massive Federation casualties
• Political crisis leading to Titans formation
• Titans’ subsequent atrocities harmed spacenoid cause
• Gato’s sacrifice ultimately hurt those he fought for
