Slaine Troyard

Slaine Troyard is a central character in Aldnoah.Zero. The son of a Vers knight and an Earth woman, Slaine’s mixed heritage and low social status drive his ambition to prove himself within the rigid hierarchy of the Vers Empire.

History

Season 1

Slaine served as a page to Count Saazbaum, a high-ranking Vers noble. Despite his position, he faced constant discrimination from pure-blooded Vers nobles due to his Earth heritage. His only companion was Asseylum Vers Allusia, the princess he had known since childhood and to whom he was deeply devoted.

When Asseylum traveled to Earth for peace talks, Slaine accompanied her. After the conference was bombed and war broke out, Slaine fought to protect the princess, piloting an Areion against Earth forces. His loyalty to Asseylum often put him at odds with his Vers superiors, particularly Saazbaum, whose true intentions Slaine gradually uncovered.

Season 2

Following the ceasefire, Slaine’s status rose dramatically. He acquired his own custom Nilokeras and the title of Count, becoming a major political player. However, his methods grew increasingly ruthless as he manipulated events to consolidate power and protect Asseylum, even as she remained in a coma.

Slaine’s actions became more extreme, culminating in his attempt to unite Earth and Mars under his own rule. His rivalry with Inaho Kaizuka became the central conflict of the second season, representing a clash between two men with similar skills but vastly different approaches to war and peace.

Personality

Slaine is driven by emotion, loyalty, and a deep need for acceptance. Unlike the logical Inaho Kaizuka, Slaine’s decisions are guided by his feelings and personal relationships. His devotion to Asseylum is absolute, though it becomes increasingly possessive and misguided.

His mixed heritage left him feeling like an outsider in both Earth and Vers society. This insecurity fueled his ambition to prove his worth through combat skill and political maneuvering. Despite his noble title, Slaine never fully belonged to the Vers aristocracy he served.

Relationships

• Asseylum Vers Allusia: The princess he devoted his life to protecting. His feelings for her evolved from childhood loyalty to romantic attachment, though it became increasingly unhealthy.
• Inaho Kaizuka: His primary rival and foil. Both are skilled pilots from humble backgrounds, but their contrasting personalities create a compelling dynamic.
• Count Saazbaum: His former master and mentor, whose betrayal shaped Slaine’s distrust of the Vers nobility.
