Professor H

Professor H (H教授, H Kyōju), also known as Instructor H, was the engineer and creator of the XXXG-01SR Gundam Sandrock and Quatre Raberba Winner’s mentor. An expert in mobile suit cockpit systems, Professor H was distinguished by his rotund build, receding hairline, and thin dark moustache that stood straight out at each end. He was responsible for leaving the blueprints of Wing Gundam Zero behind in the facility where he developed Sandrock. Professor H died on 24 December AC 195 alongside the other Gundam Scientists when they sacrificed themselves to prevent Libra from crashing into Earth.

Biography

Tallgeese project and separation

Professor H was one of the five OZ scientists working on the prototype Tallgeese. All became disillusioned when the Alliance began tightening its hold over the colonies. They left OZ and separately went to their own colonies to construct their own personal Gundams to retaliate against OZ, who were the controlling power behind the Alliance. The plan was called Operation Meteor, created by Dekim Barton to drop colonies onto Earth, causing mass murder on a global scale. However, four of the five scientists, including Professor H, rejected the plan and told their respective pilots to ignore it and instead attack OZ bases only.

Quatre’s capture and mentorship (AC 193)

In AC 193, Professor H was captured by the Alliance and forced to work in the resource satellite MO-III. There he met Quatre Raberba Winner for the first time when the young heir’s shuttle was hijacked by the Maganac Corps. After learning of the youth’s strength and resolve, he took a job as Quatre’s tutor whilst borrowing Winner family resources to construct Sandrock.

Realizing he couldn’t undo Quatre’s kind nature, Professor H rejected Operation Meteor completely and sent Quatre to Earth to join the Maganac Corps, instructing him to fight for the colonies without committing genocide. He appeared to be the most reluctant of the engineers to reveal information on the Gundams.

Wing Zero blueprints

Professor H was responsible for leaving the blueprints of Wing Gundam Zero behind in the facility where he developed Sandrock. These blueprints would later be discovered and used to construct the Zero, which became a pivotal mobile suit in the Eve Wars despite—or because of—its ZERO System’s psychological effects on pilots.

Capture and forced labour

Professor H was reunited with his fellow scientists after OZ tracked them down. Lady Une forced them to construct mobile suits more powerful than the Gundams and Tallgeese combined. The scientists created the Mercurius and Vayeate whilst secretly working on other projects.

Final sacrifice

Professor H was killed with the other engineers on Peacemillion in their attempt to stop Libra from crashing onto Earth, willingly sacrificing himself to atone for creating weapons of war.
