OZ-00MS2 Tallgeese II
Custom Tallgeese built for Treize from spare parts.
The OZ-00MS2 Tallgeese II was a custom mobile suit built exclusively for Treize Khushrenada, leader of the World Nation, during the Eve Wars in After Colony 195. Assembled from spare parts of the original OZ-00MS Tallgeese after Zechs Merquise destroyed it, the Tallgeese II featured a different head crest, a new face mask resembling a Gundam’s, and blue colouration on sections of its chest, shoulders, waist, back-mounted boosters, and shield. The blue colour was said to reflect Treize’s intention to sortie as a representative of Earth. Although certain sections were reinforced with Gundanium alloy, the mobile suit’s basic performance was unchanged from the original Tallgeese.
Overview
The Tallgeese II represented Treize’s return to active combat command during the final phase of the war. After being relieved of his position and placed under house arrest by the Romefeller Foundation, Treize eventually returned to lead the World Nation forces against White Fang. For this command, he required a mobile suit worthy of his status and capable of matching the performance of units like Zechs’ Gundam Epyon.
The mobile suit retained the original Tallgeese’s legendary Super Vernier performance, requiring exceptional pilot conditioning to operate safely. Only Treize and Zechs possessed the physical resilience and skill necessary to withstand the Tallgeese’s brutal acceleration. The Gundam-like face mask gave the mobile suit a more heroic appearance befitting Treize’s role as Earth’s representative, whilst the blue colouration distinguished it from the original’s white and blue scheme.
In the Glory of the Losers manga, the Tallgeese II was equipped with a heat saber as its main weapon to suppress energy consumption in anticipation of prolonged fighting with White Fang. This large sword’s blade was heated to super-high temperatures and could emit energy waves, with its hilt made from the same parts as the original Tallgeese’s “Tempest” heat lance.
Armament
Dober Gun
Like the original Tallgeese, the Tallgeese II used a Dober Gun as its main weapon. This large beam cannon utilized a cartridge system and was powerful enough to destroy multiple mobile suits with a single shot. It was also effective against Gundanium alloy, making it one of the few mass-production weapons that could damage Gundams. The Dober Gun attached to the right shoulder through a dedicated movable arm unit and was held in the right hand during use. The gun’s barrel had a telescopic mechanism and was equipped with an old-fashioned muzzle brake to improve accuracy.
Shield
A circular shield attached to the left shoulder through a dedicated movable arm unit. It also had a handle on the back so that it could be held by the left hand, enabling defence against attacks from various directions. When required, the shield could detach from the left shoulder and be held solely in the left hand. Thanks to anti-beam coating on its surface, the shield could defend against both beam and physical attacks. The shield also stored a pair of beam sabres on its back, doubling as a saber holder.
Beam Sabres
A pair of beam sabres were stored on the back of the shield. These melee combat weapons emitted beam blades whose heat could melt and cut through enemy mobile suits and fighter craft made of titanium alloy in a single swing. They were also effective against Gundanium alloy.
Heat Sabre (Glory of the Losers)
Featured in the Glory of the Losers manga, this large sword’s blade was heated to super-high temperatures for slicing through the armor of other mobile weapons. Like the “Tempest” heat lance, the heat saber could emit energy and uniquely could launch this energy forward as a damaging wave. Treize chose it as the Tallgeese II’s main weapon to suppress energy consumption in anticipation of prolonged fighting with White Fang. Its hilt was made from the same parts as the original Tallgeese’s “Tempest” heat lance.
Operational history
Construction and deployment
Following the original Tallgeese’s destruction when Zechs Merquise sacrificed it to claim the Wing Gundam Zero, spare parts from the prototype were assembled into Tallgeese II for Treize Khushrenada. As leader of the World Nation, Treize required a mobile suit capable of matching the performance of advanced units whilst symbolizing Earth’s determination to resist White Fang’s aggression.
The Tallgeese II’s blue colouration distinguished it from the original whilst reflecting Treize’s role as Earth’s representative in the conflict. The Gundam-like face mask gave it a more heroic appearance, appropriate for the commander leading humanity’s defence.
Eve Wars final battles
During the Eve Wars, Treize led his troops in an assault on White Fang’s massive battleship Libra. After ordering the Leo motherships to hold their positions, Treize flew the Tallgeese II within firing range of Libra’s main cannon, challenging White Fang’s leader Milliardo Peacecraft (Zechs Merquise) to a duel.
When his request was denied, Treize demanded that Milliardo fire on his Tallgeese II to end the war. The mobile suit would have been destroyed by Libra’s main cannon if not for the XXXG-01W Wing Gundam knocking it out of the beam’s path. Lady Une revealed herself as the Wing Gundam’s pilot and reminded Treize that “one must fight the battle in order to witness its true beauty.”
Treize then ordered the destruction of Libra and proceeded to destroy numerous WF-02MD Virgo II mobile dolls with the Tallgeese II’s superior performance and his exceptional piloting skill. Later in the battle, Treize encountered Gundam pilot Chang Wufei in the Altron Gundam and fought a one-on-one duel. Despite having the upper hand, Treize ultimately allowed Wufei to pierce the Tallgeese II’s cockpit with the Altron’s dragon fang, causing the mobile suit to explode and killing Treize in what he considered a meaningful death in honourable combat.
