Desil Galette

Desil Galette (デシル・ガレット, Deshiru Garetto) was a Vagan prodigy and antagonist in Mobile Suit Gundam AGE. The younger brother of Zeheart Galette, Desil possessed strong X-Rounder abilities but was driven by a dark obsession with the AGE System and the power it represented.

Desil’s arc is one of the most disturbing in Gundam AGE, portraying how raw talent combined with unchecked ambition can corrupt even a child. His descent from an eager young soldier to a ruthless and calculating antagonist served as a dark mirror to the Asuno family’s legacy.

Biography

Early involvement with Vagan

Desil was recruited into Vagan at a young age, where his natural X-Rounder abilities were quickly recognised and cultivated. Unlike his brother Zeheart, who approached warfare with a sense of honour, Desil was drawn to the power and status that came with military success.

He was assigned to pilot the XVB-XD Farsia, a mobile suit equipped with advanced X-Rounder amplification technology. The Farsia enhanced Desil’s already considerable abilities, making him a dangerous opponent despite his youth.

Obsession with the AGE System

Desil became fascinated with the AGE System after witnessing the power of the Asuno family’s Gundam. He saw the AGE System not as a tool for protecting humanity, but as a weapon that could grant its user overwhelming power. His obsession with acquiring the AGE System drove many of his actions throughout the series.

This obsession put him at odds with Flit Asuno, who viewed the AGE System as a legacy built on the promise to protect humanity. The contrast between Flit’s protective relationship with the AGE System and Desil’s covetous desire for it highlighted their fundamentally different worldviews.

Rivalry with Flit

Desil’s encounters with Flit Asuno were characterised by mutual animosity. Flit despised Desil for his willingness to sacrifice innocents and his ruthless approach to warfare. Desil, in turn, saw Flit as an obstacle to obtaining the AGE System and the power it represented.

Their rivalry was personal and bitter, reflecting the broader conflict between the Asuno family’s ideals and Vagan’s increasingly extreme methods.

Descent into darkness

As the war progressed, Desil’s personality grew darker and more ruthless. He became willing to use any means to achieve his goals, including attacking civilian targets and betraying allies who stood in his way. His younger brother Zeheart was disturbed by Desil’s transformation, and the relationship between the two brothers became increasingly strained.

Desil’s story serves as a cautionary tale about the corrupting influence of power. His natural talent and X-Rounder abilities, rather than making him a hero, became the tools through which he pursued increasingly destructive ambitions.

Desil was ambitious, arrogant, and increasingly ruthless. He was driven by a desire for power and recognition, viewing others primarily as tools or obstacles to his goals. His X-Rounder abilities fed his sense of superiority, and he looked down on those he considered weaker.

Unlike his brother Zeheart, who fought with a sense of honour and duty, Desil fought for personal gain. He was willing to sacrifice allies and innocents alike if it served his ambitions.

Desil possessed strong X-Rounder abilities that were further enhanced by the technology integrated into his Farsia mobile suit. His combat instincts were sharp, and he was capable of piloting at a level far beyond his years.

However, his reliance on raw ability and his underestimation of his opponents ultimately proved to be his undoing. His arrogance blinded him to the strategic depth of more experienced pilots like Flit and Asemu.

Desil’s primary mobile suit, the Farsia was equipped with X-Rounder amplification technology that enhanced his spatial awareness and combat capabilities. The mobile suit was designed specifically for pilots with strong X-Rounder potential, making it the perfect match for Desil’s abilities.
