RGZ-95C ReZEL Type C (GR) – MechaBay

The RGZ-95C ReZEL Type C (GR) was a commander type transformable mobile suit used exclusively by the General Revil, the flagship of the Earth orbital fleet. It was a color variation of the RGZ-95C ReZEL Type C and its performance was unchanged from the standard Type-C.

The “R” in the model code meant it was a Federation model and the “X” indicated that it was an experimental mobile suit. The “95” in the model code denoted that it was developed in UC 0095, while the “C” suffix indicated that it was a commander type variant. The “(GR)” designation indicated its assignment to the General Revil.

History

The RGZ-95C ReZEL Commander Type (GR) was a unit used exclusively by the General Revil, the flagship of the Earth orbital fleet. It featured the same tan and orange colour scheme as other units assigned to the ship. The (GR) units had adjustments made to boost performance. Unlike the ones deployed on the Londo Bell’s ship, SCVA-76 Nahel Argama, the ReZEL Type-C (GR) does not have the Mega Beam Launcher as a standard equipment.

In UC 0096, the General Revil launched an attack on both the Neo Zeon ship Garencieres and the Londo Bell ship Nahel Argama in an attempt to cover up the existence of Laplace’s Box, a secret that could upend the political system. A number of ReZEL Type-C (GR) units were deployed by the General Revil during its ambush on the SCVA-76 Nahel Argama and the Garencieres in U.C. 0096, though some of the units were intercepted and disabled by the YAMS-132 Rozen Zulu and MSN-06S Sinanju.

In UC 0097, the General Revil’s mobile suit forces were deployed in an unsuccessful attempt to fight Zoltan Akkanen’s NZ-999 II Neo Zeong. The General Revil was dispatched to the Helium-3 storage base to destroy the Republic of Zeon’s Chibe-class cruiser Gulltoppr, believing it to be operated by Sleeves remnants. ReZEL Type-C (GR) units were among the mobile suits deployed by the General Revil to engage Zoltan Akkanen’s NZ-999 II Neo Zeong nearby.

Design

The ReZEL Type-C (GR) is the ReZEL-type assigned to the battleship General Revil. It is a color variation of the ReZEL Type-C and its performance is unchanged from the standard Type-C. The most distinctive feature of the (GR) variant was its tan and orange colour scheme, which matched the General Revil’s ship colours rather than the standard Federation white and blue livery.

The mobile suit featured the same specifications as the standard ReZEL Type C, with a panoramic monitor and linear seat cockpit in the torso. It was powered by a Minovsky type ultracompact fusion reactor rated at 2,220 kW, with rocket thrusters providing 85,400 kg of total thrust.

Armaments

The ReZEL Type C (GR)‘s armaments were identical to the standard ReZEL Type C, with the notable exception that it did not carry the mega beam launcher as standard equipment.

60 mm vulcan guns

A standard armament mounted on most Federation mobile suits. The pair of head mounted shell firing weapons have a high-rate of fire, but little power. They are mainly used to restrain enemy units, intercept missiles and the like.

Grenade launchers

A grenade launcher with two rounds can be mounted in each forearm. It is comparable to the ones used by the RGZ-91 Re-GZ and has proven effective in close combat.

Beam sabers

The ReZEL Type C (GR) carried two beam sabers for close combat. These were stored in recharge racks in the left forearm when not in use. The beam sabers used an I-field to contain Minovsky particles within the shape of a blade.

Beam rifle

The main armament of this machine, it has a shape close to that of the beam rifle used by the MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam. The ReZEL’s beam rifle is powered by a replaceable E-pack, if the E-pack runs out of energy it can be replaced with a fresh one stored under the ReZEL’s shield. Besides the standard shooting mode, the ReZEL’s beam rifle also has a long duration, high output shooting mode that is known among the federation’s pilot as the ‘Guillotine burst’. Lastly, the beam rifle’s muzzle can generate a beam blade, allowing the rifle to function as a long beam saber.

Shield

A multipurpose defensive equipment developed specifically for the ReZEL. A beam cannon that fires in a 3-round burst is mounted at the front, and serves as the main weapon in waverider mode. The blade at the back of the shield can be used as a ramming weapon in close combat.
