Rayet Areash
Earth girl who joined the Vers Empire out of hatred.
Rayet Areash (レイレツ・アリアーシュ, Reiretsu Ariāshu) was a young woman from Earth who first fought for the Vers Empire and later defected to the Earth Forces.
History
Rayet Areash moved from the service of the Vers Empire to the Earth Forces once she saw how the war was being used.
Service to the Vers Empire
Rayet’s father was killed during an earlier conflict with the Vers Empire, and the loss fed her hatred of the Federation and its military. When Count Saazbaum offered her a chance for revenge, she joined his forces and fought Earth’s defenders.
Defection
As the war went on, Rayet saw its cost and the way those in power manipulated both sides. Her dealings with Inaho Kaizuka and other Earth soldiers challenged what she had assumed about the enemy. She defected to the Earth Forces, looking for a way to protect people she had once fought.
Service with the Earth Forces
After her defection, Rayet served with the Earth Forces as a mechanic and an occasional pilot. Her knowledge of Vers technology was of real use to Earth’s war effort. She struggled with guilt over her earlier actions, and found acceptance among her new comrades.
Personality
Rayet was intense, and she acted on her beliefs even when they led her astray. Her early hatred of the Federation blinded her to the political manoeuvres behind the war. She was also capable of changing her mind once she understood the people she had called enemies.
Beneath a hard manner she was compassionate, and she felt guilt strongly. The defection came from remorse for the harm she had caused, as well as from strategy.
Relationships
- Inaho Kaizuka: At first her enemy, later her commander and friend. The change marked a reconciliation between former foes.
- Count Saazbaum: Her former patron, who used her grief for his own ends.
