Lunamaria Hawke

Lunamaria Hawke (ルナマリア・ホーク, Runamaria Hōku), nicknamed Luna, was a Coordinator and ZAFT mobile suit pilot in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. She served aboard the battleship Minerva alongside Shinn Asuka and Rey Za Burrel, having graduated from the same military academy class. She was the only female pilot in the Minerva’s mobile suit squad and typically piloted a red ZGMF-1000 ZAKU Warrior; she later also operated the ZGMF-X56S Impulse Gundam after Shinn moved to the Destiny Gundam. She developed romantic feelings for Athrun Zala during the series.

Biography

SEED Destiny

Lunamaria participated in multiple battles as a Minerva pilot, including the Battle at Armory One. She was bright and strong-willed, and wore a customised ZAFT red ace uniform. Under orders from Talia Gladys she secretly followed and eavesdropped on Athrun, during which she learned important information about Meer Campbell’s true identity. Her relationship with Athrun and her loyalty to the Minerva crew were central to her arc.

Personality and traits

Luna was portrayed as cheerful and determined, with a strong sense of duty. Her feelings for Athrun complicated her position as a ZAFT pilot when Athrun’s allegiances shifted.

Athrun Zala

Lunamaria developed romantic feelings for Athrun (also known as Aslan Zara in ZAFT). Her surveillance of him on Talia’s orders placed her at the centre of the series’ revelations about Durandal’s manipulation.

Shinn Asuka and Rey Za Burrel

She served alongside Shinn and Rey as fellow Minerva pilots and academy classmates.

Lunamaria Hawke was created for Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny as part of the Minerva’s pilot roster and as a love interest for Athrun.
