Kudelia Aina Bernstein

Kudelia Aina Bernstein (クーデリア・藍那・バーンスタイン, Kūderia Aina Bānsutain) is a noblewoman from Chryse on Mars and a central figure in the Martian independence movement in Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. She contracts Tekkadan to escort her to Earth, forging an alliance that drives much of the series’ plot and later becomes a key political leader.

Biography

Kudelia was born into a noble family on Mars and became a vocal advocate for Martian independence from Earth’s economic blocs and Gjallarhorn oversight. To advance her cause she arranged to speak on Earth and hired CGS—later Tekkadan—to escort her. Orga Itsuka and Mikazuki Augus protected her through attacks by Gjallarhorn and others, and she formed close bonds with the group and with Atra Mixta. After reaching Earth she continued to work for Martian independence and later became a leading politician. She remained connected to Tekkadan’s surviving members after the group’s fall and had a child with Mikazuki Augus (alongside Atra in the family unit they formed).

Role and themes

Kudelia bridges the world of Martian nobility and the human debris of Tekkadan, humanising the independence movement and driving the story from political escort mission to full-scale conflict. Her determination and growing resolve reflect the series’ themes of agency, solidarity, and the cost of fighting for change.
