Ikuno

Ikuno (イクノ), designated Code:196, is the Pistil of the Franxx unit Chlorophytum in Darling in the FranXX. A quiet, intellectual member of Squad 13, she is initially partnered with Mitsuru in Chlorophytum; when Mitsuru pairs with Kokoro, Ikuno is reassigned to partner Futoshi in the same unit.

Ikuno’s arc explores unrequited feelings and identity—including her attraction to other girls in a system that only recognises male–female pilot pairs—and her drive to contribute through knowledge. She eventually leaves the cockpit to become a scientist and doctor, embodying the series’ theme of Parasites finding futures beyond APE and the war.
