Kokoro

Kokoro (ココロ), designated Code:556, is the Pistil of the Franxx unit Argentea in Darling in the FranXX. Her name means “heart” in Japanese and reflects her gentle, caring nature. A member of Squad 13, she is initially partnered with Futoshi in Argentea before her feelings and circumstances shift; she later pairs with Mitsuru and eventually marries him.

Kokoro’s arc centres on discovering romance, marriage, and pregnancy—concepts forbidden in the Parasites’ world—and on challenging APE control by choosing her own future. Her curiosity about books and human connection makes her one of the squad’s emotional anchors as they awaken to life beyond the birdcage.
