ZGMF-X23S Saviour Gundam
ZAFT prototype transformable mobile suit piloted by Athrun Zala in SEED Destiny; converts to high-speed MA mode.
The ZGMF-X23S Saviour Gundam (セイバーガンダム, Seibā Gandamu) was a prototype transformable mobile suit developed by ZAFT and piloted by Athrun Zala in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. One of ZAFT’s Second Stage Series units, it could transform into a high-speed mobile armour (MA) mode for aerial combat and rapid deployment. It used Variable Phase Shift Armor and an ultracompact hyper-deuterion nuclear reactor (with Neutron Jammer Canceller). Athrun operated it from the Minerva until he defected from ZAFT; he was later provided the ZGMF-X19A Infinite Justice Gundam by Lacus Clyne’s faction.
History
Deployment
The Saviour was assigned to Athrun when he rejoined ZAFT and served on the Minerva. He used it in multiple engagements during the Second Alliance-PLANT War. After Athrun left ZAFT, the Saviour was no longer his primary unit; the Infinite Justice became his machine for the remainder of the conflict.
Design
The Saviour emphasised mobility and assault capability. In mobile suit mode it carried a beam rifle, two beam sabres, and a beam shield; in MA mode the fuselage provided high thrust and speed for hit-and-run attacks.
