Sedici
OZ Colonel who infiltrated White Fang as a spy.
Sedici was a colonel in the OZ space force who secretly supported the colonial rebel group White Fang during the Eve Wars of AC 195. Stationed on the battleship Libra during its initial construction, he played a crucial role in White Fang’s takeover of the massive vessel. He was killed in combat during the assault on OZ’s space fortress Bulge, dying when a beam cannon blast destroyed his ship.
His name derives from the Italian word sedici, meaning “sixteen”, following the After Colony series’ tradition of naming characters after numerals.
History
Infiltration of OZ
As a colonel in the OZ space force, Sedici held a position of trust and authority within the organisation. However, he secretly harboured sympathies for the colonial cause and became a member of White Fang, the colonial rebel group that claimed to defend the space colonies against Earth’s aggression.
Sedici’s dual allegiance required him to maintain his cover as a loyal OZ officer whilst working to undermine the organisation from within. His position gave him access to sensitive military information and strategic assets, making him a valuable intelligence source for White Fang.
Libra construction
During AC 195, Sedici was stationed aboard the battleship Libra whilst it was under construction. The massive vessel, originally an OZ project, represented a significant strategic asset due to its powerful main cannon and enormous size. Sedici’s presence during this crucial period allowed him to gather intelligence on the vessel’s capabilities, defences, and crew complement.
In the Glory of the Losers manga, Sedici is depicted discussing Libra’s construction with Tubarov Bilmon, demonstrating his involvement in the project at a high level. His access to these discussions would have provided White Fang with valuable information about the battleship’s systems and vulnerabilities.
White Fang takeover
When White Fang launched their operation to seize control of Libra, Sedici assisted in the takeover from within. His insider knowledge and position of authority would have been instrumental in the successful capture of the vessel. The takeover allowed Zechs Merquise (reverting to his birth name Milliardo Peacecraft) to assume command of the battleship and use it as White Fang’s primary weapon against Earth.
Following the takeover, Libra became the flagship of White Fang’s space fleet and a symbol of colonial resistance. Milliardo would use its main cannon to demonstrate White Fang’s power by obliterating an island on Earth’s surface, proving that the organisation now possessed the means to destroy the planet.
Battle of Bulge
Later in the conflict, Sedici led a White Fang fleet that headed to Bulge, OZ’s last major space fortress and the organisation’s final significant military asset in space. The assault on Bulge represented a critical operation for White Fang, as destroying or capturing the fortress would eliminate OZ’s ability to project power in space.
During the intense battle, Sedici’s ship came under fire from Bulge’s powerful beam cannon. A direct hit from the weapon destroyed his vessel, killing Sedici instantly. His death demonstrated the high casualties sustained by both sides during the final stages of the Eve Wars.
Personality
Based on his actions, Sedici demonstrated exceptional courage and conviction. Maintaining a cover identity within OZ whilst secretly supporting White Fang required constant vigilance and the willingness to risk exposure and execution as a traitor. His decision to betray the organisation that had promoted him to colonel showed he valued the colonial cause above personal advancement.
His willingness to lead a fleet into battle against Bulge indicated he was not merely an intelligence operative but a capable military commander willing to fight directly for his beliefs. This combination of espionage skills and combat leadership made him a valuable asset to White Fang.
Skills and abilities
Military command
As a colonel in the OZ space force, Sedici possessed the training and experience necessary to command military vessels and forces in space combat. His leadership of the fleet that attacked Bulge demonstrated practical command abilities.
Intelligence gathering
Sedici’s role as a White Fang infiltrator required skills in intelligence gathering, operational security, and deception. His ability to maintain his cover whilst stationed on Libra during its construction allowed him to provide valuable intelligence to the colonial cause.
Space warfare
Sedici’s career in the OZ space force provided him with expertise in space combat operations, fleet tactics, and the operation of military spacecraft. His participation in major space battles during the Eve Wars demonstrated practical combat experience.
Relationships
White Fang
Sedici’s true allegiance lay with White Fang, the colonial rebel organisation fighting for space colony independence. He risked his life to support their cause, first as an infiltrator within OZ and later as a fleet commander in open combat.
Zechs Merquise / Milliardo Peacecraft
Following White Fang’s takeover of Libra, Sedici would have served under Zechs Merquise (Milliardo Peacecraft), who assumed leadership of White Fang and command of the battleship. Sedici’s earlier assistance in capturing Libra contributed directly to Milliardo’s ability to threaten Earth with the vessel’s main cannon.
Tubarov Bilmon
In the manga, Sedici is shown discussing Libra’s construction with Tubarov, an OZ engineer who developed the mobile doll system. These interactions were presumably part of Sedici’s cover role, though they also provided him with valuable intelligence about the vessel’s capabilities.
Legacy
Sedici’s infiltration of OZ and his role in the capture of Libra proved crucial to White Fang’s military capabilities during the final stages of the Eve Wars. Without access to Libra and its powerful main cannon, White Fang would have lacked the strategic weapon that made their threat to Earth credible.
His death during the assault on Bulge exemplified the high cost paid by colonial fighters during the conflict. Many officers and soldiers on both sides died in the final battles between OZ and White Fang, before the conflict was ultimately resolved through the actions of the Gundam pilots.
