Paradigm City is the metropolis that serves as the sole setting of the The Big O franchise. Forty years prior to the series, all residents lost their memories; the city exists in isolation, and the past remains deliberately obscured. Roger Smith works as the city’s top Negotiator, resolving conflicts with R. Dorothy Wayneright and Norman Burg. Recovered technology, awakened megadeuses, and psychological revelation drive the overarching mystery of the city’s true nature. The temporal structure reflects the series’ film noir influences.
