RX-139 Hambrabi
Prototype transformable mobile suit developed by the Earth Federation Forces.
The RX-139 Hambrabi was a prototype transformable mobile suit developed by the Earth Federation Forces for the Titans.
The “R” in the model code meant it was a Federation model and the “X” designated it as an experimental mobile suit. The “139” in the model code denoted it was the one hundred and thirty-ninth experimental design in the Federation’s development programme.
History
During the Gryps War, the Earth Federation Forces and the Titans developed several experimental transformable mobile suits/mobile armors and conducted field tests by placing them into actual combat. The RX-139 Hambrabi was one of the more well-known designs to emerge from this development programme.
The Hambrabi was most famously used by Yazan Gable, a brutal Titans pilot who employed the mobile suit’s unique capabilities to maximum effect. The mobile suit also saw service with Sarah Zabiarov, Dunkel Cooper, and Ramsus Hasa during various operations of the Gryps War.
Yazan Gable was eventually defeated at the end of the war and barely survived thanks to his cockpit’s escape pod when his Hambrabi was destroyed during the final battles.
Design
The Hambrabi was unique in several respects that set it apart from other transformable mobile weapons of its era. One of the most visible features was its five monoeye sensors placed all over its body, enabling the pilot to more easily locate and track targets in both mobile suit and mobile armor mode. This sensor arrangement provided exceptional situational awareness during combat operations.
The mobile suit’s body also mounted several wing-like stabilizers, giving the Hambrabi high agility and maneuverability in mobile armor mode similar to that of a space fighter. The transformation system allowed the Hambrabi to achieve exceptional speed and mobility whilst maintaining combat effectiveness.
In mobile armor mode, the Hambrabi had an overall length of 17.9 metres and a wingspan of 15.9 metres, creating a sleek fighter-like profile optimised for high-speed combat operations. The mobile armor configuration emphasised speed and agility over heavy armor protection.
Armaments
The Hambrabi’s standard weapons were beam sabers for melee combat and various beam rifles for ranged attacks, supplemented by unique special weapons.
Beam sabers
The Hambrabi carried two beam sabers with a power rating of 0.5 MW each. These were stored in recharge racks in the forearms and hand-carried when in use. The beam sabers provided reliable close-range combat capabilities for engaging enemy mobile suits in direct combat.
Beam rifles
The mobile suit could mount two beam rifles with a power rating of 2.6 MW each, powered by rechargeable energy caps. These were mounted on backpack storage racks in mobile armor mode, allowing the Hambrabi to engage targets at medium to long range whilst transformed.
Feyadeen beam rifle/saber
In addition to its standard armament, the Hambrabi could also carry the powerful Feyadeen beam rifle/saber with a power rating of 6.6 MW, powered by rechargeable energy cap. This weapon, shared with the RX-110 Gabthley, provided exceptional firepower for engaging heavily armored targets.
Sea serpent
The Hambrabi’s most distinctive weapon was the sea serpent, a wire-guided grappling/shocking weapon that launched from the hand. This unique armament was used to deliver crippling electrical shocks to enemy mobile suits, potentially disabling their systems and leaving them vulnerable to follow-up attacks. The wire-guided nature of the weapon allowed for precise targeting and reduced the risk of friendly fire incidents.
Tail lance
The Hambrabi was equipped with a tail lance that served as both a melee weapon and a stabilizer during high-speed manoeuvres. This weapon provided an additional close-combat option and could be used for ramming attacks in mobile armor mode.
