MSM-04N Agg Guy
Prototype amphibious mobile suit developed by Zeonic for the Principality of Zeon.
The MSM-04N Agg Guy was a prototype amphibious mobile suit developed by Zeonic for the Principality of Zeon. It was part of the California Base special operations series designed for the planned assault on Jaburo.
The “MS” in the model code referred to it being a mobile suit, while the “M” identified it as an amphibious model. The “04” indicated it was based on the MSM-04 Acguy design, and the “N” suffix denoted it was a variant in the California Base special operations line.
History
In preparation for its planned assault on the Earth Federation Forces’ underground South American Jaburo military headquarters during the One Year War, the Zeon military forces stationed at California Base began developing several specialised mobile suits to aid in the assault. One of these designs was the Agg Guy, an amphibious mobile suit loosely based on the MSM-04 Acguy.
However, the Agg Guys built at California Base were never deployed, as Char Aznable discovered the secret spacedock entrance to Jaburo long before the scheduled assault, and launched a hasty attack with what limited resources received from the California Base in time.
By UC 0088, an Agg Guy unit fell into the hands of eccentric mobile collector Stampa Halloi, leader of Side 3’s Colony 24 (aka Tigerbaum). Halloi deployed his collection of mobile suits in battle against the AEUG, but antiques like the Agg Guy fared poorly against the AEUG’s modern mobile suits. During the events at Tigerbaum, an Agg Guy attacked Judau Ashta with its claw arms, but he was able to disable it.
Design
Loosely based on the MSM-04 Acguy design, the Agg Guy was designed to be heavily armored yet fast, attacking with a pair of spinning heat rods on each arm to grapple, slice and shock enemies. The Agg Guy was heavier than its predecessor, with an empty weight of 113.7 tonnes compared to the Acguy’s 91.6 tonnes, reflecting its enhanced armor protection.
The mobile suit was powered by a Minovsky type ultracompact fusion reactor generating 2,010 kW of output, slightly more than the standard Acguy’s 1,870 kW. It used hydrojet thrusters with a total output of 109,000 kg for propulsion, achieving a maximum water speed of 50 knots.
Like other amphibious mobile suits of its era, the Agg Guy featured super hard steel alloy armor for protection underwater and on land. The standard cockpit was located in the torso, providing the pilot with adequate visibility for combat operations.
Armaments
The Agg Guy’s standard weapons were vulcan guns for close-range defence and spinning heat rods for close combat engagement.
Vulcan guns
Two vulcan guns were mounted in the Agg Guy’s head. These rapid-fire weapons were primarily used against lightly armored targets and served as effective point defence against incoming missiles and small craft. While insufficient to damage heavily armored mobile suits, sustained fire could damage sensors and joints at close range.
Heat rods
The Agg Guy’s most distinctive weapons were four heat rods mounted in pairs on each hand with spinning mounts. These electrically charged weapons could be used for slicing and shocking enemies, functioning as both grappling tools and offensive weapons. The heat rods could extend to engage targets at medium range while delivering electrical shocks to disrupt enemy mobile suit systems.
The spinning mount system allowed the heat rods to be deployed rapidly in multiple directions, making them effective against both single targets and groups of enemies. When used in combination, the four heat rods could create a defensive barrier around the Agg Guy.
Claw hands
These heat rod hands could also be changed out for a claw-type hand similar to those on the MSM-07 Z’Gok. The claw hands provided enhanced gripping capability for close combat and could deliver devastating physical attacks using the Agg Guy’s considerable mass and strength.

Behind the scenes
Kunio Okawara was the original mechanical designer for the MSV version, while Yasuo Ohtagaki designed the version that appeared in the Gundam Thunderbolt manga. The Agg Guy was part of the original Mobile Suit Variations (MSV) line that expanded the One Year War mobile suit roster.
The Agg Guy appeared in Gundam ZZ as part of Stampa Halloi’s mobile suit collection, where it was described as “an extremely ugly mobile suit from canceled 1980s manga/model kit series MS-X.”
