Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: The Afterglow of Zeon

Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: The Afterglow of Zeon (機動戦士ガンダム0083 ジオンの残光, Kidō Senshi Gandamu 0083 Jion no Zankō) is a compilation film that condenses the 13-episode Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory OVA into a 120-minute theatrical feature. Directed by Imanishi Takashi and produced by Sunrise, it was released in Japanese cinemas on 29 August 1992.

The film retells the story of rookie pilot Kou Uraki and Zeon ace Anavel Gato during Operation Stardust, focusing on the theft of the RX-78GP02A Gundam GP02A “Physalis”, the pursuit by the assault carrier Albion, and the eventual colony drop that reshapes the Universal Century political landscape. Whilst it preserves many of the OVA’s key battles and set-pieces, it compresses character development and subplots to fit the shorter runtime, offering a more streamlined but less detailed version of the story.
