Gundam 0079 – Nightmare of Solomon

Gundam 0079 – Nightmare of Solomon is a manga side story set during the One Year War that focuses on Anavel Gato’s role in the Battle of Solomon. Told from Zeon’s perspective, it portrays Gato’s determination and battlefield reputation as the “Nightmare of Solomon” as he strikes at the Earth Federation Forces during the assault on the Solomon space fortress.

The story functions as a bridge between the original Mobile Suit Gundam era and Gato’s later appearance in Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, providing additional context for his devotion to Zeon and the experiences that shaped his later actions in Operation Stardust. Like other Universal Century side manga, it supplements the anime by expanding on key battles and character perspectives that only received limited screen time in the main series.
