GN Particle

GN Particles (GN粒子, Jī Enu Ryūshi), short for Gundam Nucleus particles, were revolutionary particles in the Anno Domini timeline that provided nearly unlimited energy and enabled various advanced technologies. GN particles were generated by GN Drives and formed the foundation of Celestial Being’s technological superiority, powering their Gundam mobile suits and enabling capabilities that far exceeded conventional military technology.

Overview

GN particles represented a breakthrough in particle physics and energy generation, providing a power source that could operate indefinitely without degradation. The particles were generated by GN Drives and could be used for various applications, including power generation, beam weapons, defensive fields, and propulsion systems. This versatility made GN particles the cornerstone of Celestial Being’s technological advantage.

The particles’ unique properties allowed them to be utilised in numerous ways, from providing unlimited power for mobile suit operations to creating defensive barriers and enhancing mobility. GN particles were also visible, emitting a distinctive red glow that became associated with Celestial Being’s Gundams, whilst GN Tau Drives produced green GN particles that distinguished them from true GN Drives.

Principles

GN particles operated through complex particle physics that allowed them to provide nearly unlimited energy whilst maintaining stability. The particles were generated continuously by GN Drives through a process that converted mass into energy, creating particles that could be harnessed for various applications without depleting the power source.

The particles’ effectiveness came from their ability to be utilised in multiple ways simultaneously, allowing mobile suits powered by GN Drives to operate continuously without needing to recharge or refuel. This capability gave GN particle-powered mobile suits significant advantages over conventional units that relied on limited battery power.

Development

GN particle technology was developed by Celestial Being in the Anno Domini 2290s as part of the organisation’s development of advanced mobile suit technology. The particles’ discovery and utilisation required sophisticated scientific knowledge and engineering capabilities, which Celestial Being possessed through its extensive research and development infrastructure.

The technology’s development was highly secretive, as GN particles represented a revolutionary advancement that could fundamentally change warfare and energy generation. Celestial Being maintained strict control over GN particle technology, ensuring that it remained exclusive to their Gundams and giving them a significant military advantage.

Applications

Military applications

GN particles were primarily utilised in military applications, powering Celestial Being’s Gundam mobile suits and enabling various advanced capabilities. The particles powered beam weapons that did not require ammunition, defensive GN Fields that could block attacks, and propulsion systems that provided enhanced mobility.

GN particle technology was later reverse-engineered by the United Nations Forces, leading to the development of GN Tau Drives that produced similar particles. However, Tau Drive-produced particles were inferior to those from true GN Drives, providing limited power and shorter operational periods.

Energy generation

GN particles provided nearly unlimited energy for mobile suit operations, allowing GN Drive-powered units to operate indefinitely without needing to recharge. This capability was revolutionary, as conventional mobile suits required frequent recharging or refuelling, limiting their operational effectiveness.

The particles’ energy generation capabilities extended beyond mobile suits, potentially providing power for various applications. However, Celestial Being maintained strict control over GN particle technology, limiting its broader utilisation.

Beam weapons

GN particles enabled the creation of beam weapons that did not require ammunition, as the particles themselves could be shaped into cutting beams or projectile attacks. These weapons provided significant advantages over conventional firearms, as they did not require ammunition storage and could fire continuously as long as GN particles were available.

GN beam weapons were highly effective, capable of cutting through most armour and providing rapid-fire capabilities that conventional weapons could not match. The weapons’ effectiveness made GN particle-powered mobile suits formidable opponents in combat.

Defensive systems

GN particles could be used to create defensive barriers known as GN Fields, which could block both physical and beam attacks. These fields were generated by dispersing GN particles around a mobile suit, creating a protective barrier that could absorb and deflect incoming attacks.

GN Fields provided excellent defensive capabilities, though they consumed significant amounts of GN particles and could be overloaded by sufficiently powerful attacks. The fields’ effectiveness made GN particle-powered mobile suits highly resilient in combat.

Propulsion and mobility

GN particles enhanced mobile suit propulsion systems, providing improved mobility and manoeuvrability. The particles could be used to enhance thrusters, allowing mobile suits to achieve speeds and manoeuvres that conventional units could not match.

The particles’ influence on propulsion systems contributed to the superior mobility of GN-powered mobile suits, making them more effective in combat situations that required rapid movement and positioning.

Impact

GN particle technology fundamentally changed warfare in the Anno Domini timeline, creating a technological gap between Celestial Being’s Gundams and conventional mobile suits that proved difficult to overcome. The particles’ versatility and power made GN-powered mobile suits among the most effective units in existence, forcing military forces to develop countermeasures and ultimately leading to the development of GN Tau Drive technology.

The technology’s impact extended beyond military applications, as GN particles represented a potential solution to energy generation challenges. However, the technology’s exclusivity and the risks associated with its utilisation limited its broader adoption.

Variants

True GN Particles

True GN particles were generated by authentic GN Drives and emitted a distinctive red glow. These particles provided the highest performance and could operate indefinitely without degradation, making them superior to Tau Drive-produced particles.

GN Tau Particles

GN Tau particles were generated by GN Tau Drives, reverse-engineered copies of true GN Drives. These particles emitted a green glow and provided similar capabilities to true GN particles but with limitations, including limited operational time and reduced performance compared to true GN particles.
