Escaflowne (2000) is the film reimagining by Studio Bones. Hitomi Kanzaki and Van Fanel are portrayed in a darker, more psychological way. The world of Gaea has a more Asian-inspired look; the mecha are “Dragon Armor” powered by the pilot’s blood.
