Hitomi Kanzaki

Hitomi Kanzaki (神崎 ひとみ) is the female protagonist of The Vision of Escaflowne. A 15-year-old high school student from Kamakura who runs track and reads tarot cards, she has a vision of Van Fanel during his ritual and is accidentally pulled from Earth to the parallel world Gaea when he battles a dragon on her school grounds.

On Gaea, Hitomi’s divination becomes frighteningly accurate—she sees past and future—and her visions prove crucial to Van’s survival and to the fight against Zaibach. Her bond with Van, the young king of Fanelia and pilot of the legendary Escaflowne, drives the series’ themes of fate, choice, and love across worlds.
