Dorel Ronah
Cosmo Babylonia noble and field commander in the Crossbone Vanguard.
Dorel Ronah (ドレル・ロナ, Doreru Rona) was a senior commander of the Crossbone Vanguard and member of the Ronah ruling family in Mobile Suit Gundam F91. As son of Meitzer Ronah and elder brother of Berah Ronah, he executed the Cosmo Babylonia plan to establish aristocratic rule over the Frontier colonies.
Biography
Dorel Ronah executed the Crossbone Vanguard’s invasion of Frontier IV in UC 0123, piloting Den’an Gei units for Cosmo Babylonia whilst trying to impose the Ronah family’s aristocratic order on the Earth Federation frontier colonies.
Commander of the Vanguard
Dorel directed the Crossbone Vanguard’s initial assault, deploying elite Den’an Gei teams to seize key infrastructure with minimal collateral damage. He viewed the campaign as a necessary step towards creating a utopian society for spaceborn nobility, dismissing Federation objections as evidence of terrestrial decadence.
Death in battle
During the battle around Frontier IV’s mass driver, Dorel engaged the Gundam F91 in his Den’an Gei. Seabook Arno’s rapid growth as a Newtype overwhelmed him, and Dorel was killed when his suit exploded. His loss removed Cosmo Babylonia’s primary battlefield commander and accelerated the invasion’s collapse.
Personality & traits
Dorel Ronah projected patrician confidence, convinced noble lineage entitled him to rule over Frontier citizens. He balanced outward civility with a cold willingness to apply force, expecting subordinates and family alike to serve the Ronah vision without question. The disconnect between his genuine affection for his sister and his ruthless politics highlighted how ideology overrode personal bonds.
Skills & abilities
As both strategist and pilot, Dorel Ronah mastered Den’an Gei command operations, coordinating simultaneous strikes whilst duelling in person when required. His familiarity with the Vanguard’s elite units let him choreograph combined-arms assaults that maximised the knights’ mobility. In the cockpit he relied on precision marksmanship and disciplined formations rather than reckless charges.
Relationships
Berah Ronah
Dorel kept Berah Ronah under guard, seeing her as the key to legitimising Cosmo Babylonia whilst fearing her sympathy for refugees. Berah’s encounters with Seabook widened the rift, as she rejected the harsh rule Dorel enforced on the colonies.
Meitzer Ronah
As heir apparent, Dorel worked to satisfy Meitzer Ronah’s expectations, proving that the Crossbone Vanguard could secure the Ronah dynasty’s dominion. Meitzer’s political calculations often overrode Dorel’s battlefield realities, creating tension between front-line necessities and court directives.
Crossbone Vanguard knights
Dorel cultivated loyalty among the Black Vanguard and Den’an Gei pilots, rewarding competence and enforcing strict discipline. His insistence on chivalric conduct resonated with the knights, though many doubted his refusal to adapt when Federation resistance stiffened.
Equipment
Dorel Ronah piloted Den’an-series mobile suits configured for knight warfare.

Legacy
Dorel Ronah embodied the aristocratic arrogance fuelling Cosmo Babylonia, and his death at Frontier IV exposed how brittle hereditary rule became once its champions fell. Without his battlefield leadership, the Vanguard lost the cohesion that had made the initial assault so effective, accelerating the Ronah family’s downfall.
Behind the Scenes
Dorel Ronah was created for Mobile Suit Gundam F91 to provide personal stakes within the Ronah family conflict. His rivalry with Seabook spotlighted the ideological clash between elitism and democratic ideals that defines the film.
