Don Teabolo Mass

Don Teabolo Mass (ドン・テアボロ・マス), also referred to as Teabolo Mass, was a wealthy aristocrat on Earth who sheltered Zeon Zum Deikun’s children after their escape from the Autonomous Republic of Munzo in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin. He gave them the aliases Édouard and Sayla Mass and provided safe houses, forged identities, and logistical cover as part of the Zeon Reform Movement effort to protect the Deikun heirs.

Biography

After Jimba Ral and Ramba Ral organised the Casval and Artesia escape, the children were sent to Earth with the help of the Earth Federation and placed under Don Teabolo Mass’s care. He adopted them and gave Casval the name Édouard Mass and Artesia the name Sayla Mass to avoid detection by Zabi family agents. He contributed safe houses, forged residency permits for the Atlantic Federation, and logistical support in coordination with the Reform Movement.

When Astraia Tor Deikun died in captivity, Teabolo had a gravestone erected for her under a pseudonym so that Sayla Mass could grieve in secret. His household also hosted Roger Aznable and his son, the original Char Aznable; after the real Char’s death in a ship explosion, Casval assumed his identity.

Casval and Artesia

Char Aznable (Casval) and Sayla Mass (Artesia) lived under Teabolo’s guardianship as Édouard and Sayla Mass until they left to pursue their own paths.

Jimba Ral and Zeon Reform Movement

Jimba Ral and Ramba Ral coordinated the children’s extraction with Teabolo’s assistance; Teabolo provided the civilian cover and resources that enabled the Casval and Artesia escape.

Behind the scenes

Don Teabolo Mass was developed in the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin manga and OVA by Yasuhiko Yoshikazu. His role parallels that of Vice-Minister Darlian in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, who similarly sheltered Relena Darlian after her father’s death.
